NY Times idiot staffer says those defending Trump over Colorado decision are like traitorous confederates

A member of the New York Times editorial board told Morning Joe this morning that those defending Trump over the ridiculous Colorado decision, which disqualified him from being on the presidential ballot, are like traitorous confederates.

Here’s what she said via Tom Elliott:

NYT’s Mara Gay on Republicans criticizing Colo. for banning Trump from the ballot: “Why are you standing w/ confederates who betrayed this country? … [Reconstruction Republicans] clearly saw a threat in ex-confederates running for office, and so much so they amended the Constitution to prevent those traitors from running for office, and that should send a message that our electoral system can be used for nefarious purposes against democracy itself.”

The left loves to talk about defending democracy, but what they are really defending is outrageous authoritarian abuses of power. Regardless of how some on the left feel about the Capitol riot, Trump has never been convicted of anything. For the Colorado Supreme Court to arbitrarily rule that Trump is guilty of insurrection against the United States when he hasn’t even been tried for it yet is unconstitutional. Also, what about ‘guilty until proven innocent’?
