An NYPD officer was injured yesterday after he bit into a sandwich he’d purchased from a Queens deli that had a razor blade stuffed in it:
NY DAILY NEWS – An NYPD cop got a sharp surprise when he bit into a sandwich at a Queens shop and cut his mouth on a razor blade stuck inside, police sources said.
The officer, a member of the NYPD’s Critical Response Command, purchased the sandwich at Bon Appetit, a sandwich shop on Beach 129th St. in Rockaway Park about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, sources with knowledge of the case said.
He cut the inside of his mouth on the razor as he took a bite and was taken to Nassau Community Medical Center for a minor wound, sources said.
Police were trying to determine if a worker at Bon Appetit planted the razor inside the sandwich or if this was a freak accident.
Cops recovered DNA evidence from the razor, but have yet to gain access to the shop’s surveillance system to see who prepared the food, sources said.
Police are expected to return to the eatery Friday to continue their investigation. Workers at Bon Appetit declined to comment when reached by phone Friday.
A freak accident? I seriously doubt it. Unless someone uses a razor blade to cut sandwiches in half, which seems highly unlikely.
No, it’s more likely that someone who worked there hated cops and stuffed it into the sandwich. If so, they should be charged with assault on a police officer and whatever else they can throw at this scum.
