Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can’t help but be provocative and offend people with her idiotic comparisons. This time she took aim at the baby Jesus on Christmas day, referring to Him as a refugee in an obvious comparison to the migrant mob:
https://twitter.com/Ocasio2018/status/1077599700595945472As usual, she gets her facts mixed up within her idiotic comparisons. The holy family weren’t refugees to Bethlehem. They were there to participate in a census for tax purposes.
It was only a year or two after the birth of Jesus did the holy family flee to Egypt, after they were warned by an angel to do so as Matthew 2 tells us. The Wise Men refused to give Herod the location of the baby Jesus, so a very jealous and cruel King Herod decided to kill all of the male children two years old or younger in the region. So yes, in that sense, the holy family were refugees to Egypt.
But even if their fleeing to Egypt is what she really meant in her tweet – it’s not even remotely the same thing as what happened a month ago with these Honduran migrants. These migrants, who tried to violently force their way into our country, weren’t fleeing because the Honduran government was trying to kill them. No, they were organized by leftists who wanted to manufacture a humanitarian crisis because they don’t believe in borders. Sure, many of them were looking for a better life – better jobs, more prosperity, etc. But they weren’t fleeing because their lives were in danger. Which means, as a whole, they weren’t refugees at all. They were migrants.
This country has been very kind to actual refugees fleeing life-threatening persecution. We have an entire refugee program designed to aid people in these desperate situations. But we can’t allow that program to be abused by leftists who simply want a borderless world.
But people like Ocasio-Cortez don’t care about facts. They will use anything they can to push their socialist agenda and waste our tax money as best they can. Ocasio-Cortez is the very type that would have organized this migrant mob in the first place.
Social media wasn’t too happy with her comparison either:
Yeah... Stick to your bumper sticker ideology, Kid.

Merry Christmas to you! I shouldn't know this story better than you do, so please reread. They were not refugees in Bethlehem. That happened later, in Egypt. https://t.co/vbFVUDU1Q5

Well she is consistent. She knows about as much about the Bible as she does about the branches of Government! https://t.co/neb21l4C0x

I hope you're well prepared after using Jesus's birth story to your political interest. Because the Almighty God sees and knows everything.https://t.co/qrAqBmi4e7
