OF COURSE: Kavanaugh’s liberal accuser wants to testify

The lawyer for the woman accusing Kavanaugh of sexual assault when they were teenagers says she now wants to testify before the Senate:

POLITICO – The woman who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when they were in high school “will do whatever is necessary to make sure that the Senate Judiciary Committee has the full story,” including testifying before the committee, her attorney said Monday.

Debra Katz, the attorney for Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford, told “CBS This Morning” that her client hopes to tell “her story in a manner that is a fair proceeding.”

“My client will do whatever is necessary to make sure that the senate judiciary committee has the full story and the full set of allegations to allow them to make a fully informed decision,” Katz said. “She’s willing to do what she needs to do.”

Of course she does. She probably thinks that Kavanaugh will force women back to the days of hangers and is willing to say whatever to stop him.

Honestly, I can’t believe we’re doing this all over again after Roy Moore. If the allegations had any merit, the would have come out two months ago.

But instead of pushing back hard against it, the White House is going along with it for now:

Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president, sounded a somewhat more conciliatory tone Monday morning in an appearance on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends,” telling the show’s trio of hosts that Ford’s account ought not to be ignored but that it also should be weighed against Kavanaugh’s account. Both sides, she said, should be heard in sworn testimony before the Senate.

“This woman should not be insulted and she should not be ignored,” Conway said.

She added that she believes that the “Senate is headed to a reasonable approach” after speaking to a number of lawmakers, including Sen. Lindsey Graham.

“Allowing this woman to be heard in sworn testimony, allowing judge Kavanaugh to be heard in sworn testimony about these specific allegations would be added to the very considerable mountain of evidence and considerations that folks will have when they weigh whether or not to vote for judge Kavanaugh to be on the Supreme Court,” Conway said.

“So, let me make very clear. I have spoken with the president. I have spoken with Sen. Graham and others. This woman will be heard,” Conway said.

She should be ignored! This is preposterous.

Let’s say for a second this is even remotely true. He would have been a teenager. Let me see a show of hands of people who are the exact same people that they were when they were a teenager? Right, nobody.

The idea of letting something that occurred so long ago overwrite the years and years and years of being an upstanding and honorable Christian man and judge is absurd.

But as I’ve suggested already, I don’t believe these allegations for a hot second and I don’t think this woman should be given the time of day.

Despite the White House’s conciliatory tone about the allegations, they are standing by Kavanaugh:

The White House on Monday reiterated its support for Kavanaugh, reasserting that he “categorically and unequivocally” denies the allegation.

“On Friday, Judge Kavanaugh ‘categorically and unequivocally’ denied this allegation,” White House spokesperson Kerri Kupec said in a statement released Monday morning. “This has not changed. Judge Kavanaugh and the White House both stand by that statement.”

If she does testify before the Senate, it will probably be in a closed-door hearing. I hope it doesn’t happen but with Graham and Flake saying they want to hear more, it probably will.
