This is the 5th installment of James O’Keefe’s now officially epic Medicaid sting. The plot has become all too familiar: Opulent Russian drug-smuggler walks into multiple Medicaid offices seeking aid for his ailing father. Do any of the Medicaid employees report him to the police, once they realize he is clearly attempting to defraud the system? Uh, no. Quite the opposite, actually. They’re happy to help!
It’s certainly not unheard of for people to get arrested for Medicaid fraud, so obviously there is some token level of oversight in place for this budget-busting entitlement program. That’s nice. But I’d be curious to know how many Medicaid employees have ever been arrested for aiding and abetting fraud. My guess is zero.
