A girl in Texas has been arrested for threatening to shoot 400 people for fun at her former high school:
YAHOO NEWS – A teenage girl from Oklahoma was arrested this week after threatening to enter her former high school and “shoot 400 people for fun,” according to KOKI-TV.
Eighteen-year-old Alexis Wilson made the threats Sunday while working at a pizza shop in McAlester, Okla. Police say the incident began with Wilson showing a coworker an iPhone video of her shooting her newly purchased AK-47.
Wilson was expelled from the school and apparently didn’t like many of the students there:
The teenager went on to share that she resented many of the people at McAlester High School, which she was expelled from after a number of violent incidents — including bringing a knife to class.
She then said she wanted to “shoot 400 people for fun and that there were so many people at her old school that she would like to do it,” according to the unnamed coworker.
The coworker told police about the conversation, and on Monday Wilson was charged with a felony for making a terrorist threat against her former school.
Police searched the 18-year-old’s home and found the AK-47, along with six magazines and a 12-gauge shotgun. Wilson also allowed authorities to look through her phone — which contained multiple videos of her shooting guns — but soon became concerned, saying there were other “criminal-like things” on the device that she didn’t want them to see.
Pittsburg County Sheriff Chris Morris said the videos confirmed some of the stories they’d already heard about Wilson’s comments.
“We’d seen video of her shooting guns,” Morris told the McAlester News-Capital. “She showed video to her friends and told them she had recently purchased a gun and told her friends she was going to shoot up the school.”
I don’t know much about AK-47s, but I just don’t hear about people buying them like AR-15s. I am assuming her’s was legal and semi-automatic clone of the real thing.
But seriously, in this day and age, who talks about shooting up a high school? Her co-worker did the right thing in going to police, in my opinion, because from the way it sounded in the reporting she was at least casually serious about it. And she apparently had the fire power to carry it out.
Wilson claimed that she would have actually never done it, but I guess the police will have to sort that out:
Wilson has maintained her innocence, telling police she “would never shoot up a school” and that her coworker misunderstood her. She did not deny making the comments, though.
“I then asked [Wilson] if she had said something that she should not have said and she stated she was unsure and that she never meant for it to be taken in that way,” Pittsburg County Deputy Matthew Jordan wrote in a report.
Wilson is being held on a $250,000 bond, and her court date is set for Sept. 27. McAlester High School, meanwhile, is taking the security threat seriously. Morris told AOL that she is still being held in county jail as of Tuesday afternoon.
If she really wasn’t serious about shooting up her old high school, then let’s hope she learned a valuable lesson.
