On videos, influencers, big leaps, and y’all: an update

In January I began publicly working on a major project and, as many of you know and have supported, launched a fundraiser to push forward. That work continues and I’d like to update those of you who are interested.

It’s been about six months now, and though I haven’t raised the full funds yet, the work has continued wherever possible. As I’ve mentioned, I have to be somewhat protective of how I describe the functionality of the project, as I don’t want the concept borrowed, copied, replicated, etc. But I can tell you some things now and I hope that continues to enthuse and inspire us all.

When we talk about video influencers on X and other social media, we are usually talking about what everyone these days refers to as “the clippers” – that is, video clippers, not the NBA team.

There are other aspects to that, however. For example, most of the very big clippers/video influencers are hyper-partisan leftists who slant their summaries and selectively edit the clips for obvious reasons.

Aside from them, another aspect is user accounts that rely on X as their entire business model, and therefore disallow any embedding of their X content on websites. I guess that’s fine for what they do, but since we Scooper are mission-oriented, and that mission is making the truth accessible and widespread, limiting the number of places to view the clip in this way is counterproductive. A video influencer on X who is an individual will thrive on having their X posts embedded across the internet, to spread the brand, drive new followers, etc.

There is also a third aspect of video sharing that can be frustrating to end users – it’s that even when someone is aligned with you politically, is fair and truthful with their clips, and quickly has available hot new videos that you want to share and reshare, they may not clip it how you like, or may add too much of their own logo to it, blocking the view. Or perhaps they haven’t optimized the audio.

So if you and a few other people, most of whom you’ll know, recognize, and probably already mutually follow are able to, instead, create and share your own clip from an event, news show, or etc, where you can adjust the start and stop times, and make it your own, post it many places, and so on … well that’d be great, right?

Without going into too much detail, understand that empowering users for a process like that is at the heart of what I’ve been developing. I can tell you that Rumble will be a component, Facebook will be a component, and X will be a component, and the above description is only part of what you’d be able to do. I can also tell you that, when the time comes, it’s the Scoop membership who will have the opportunity to actually use this newfandangled thingamajig.

Although development is somewhat slower for it, I hesitate to make the fundraiser any higher profile or to share it in too many places, for the same reason I’m limiting my descriptions of it: I don’t want to undermine my own idea by watering it down elsewhere. I can tell you that Rumble will be a component, Facebook will be a component, and X will be a component.

Now, that’s not to say I’m putting the onus for development of this on the Right Scoop community, or on this fundraiser. There are other factors in the development (one of which is why this update was delayed by a week), but I will tell you that the fundraiser is a key component, especially in control over how and when it all comes out and goes live.

I know this isn’t too detailed of an update, but I wanted those of you who have participated or may participate in the future to know that the project remains very much alive, underway, and attainable. And of course, to express my sincere gratefulness for all of y’all for not just supporting me here, but for supporting Right Scoop and for reading my posts and, well, you get it. Y’all rule.

If you do wish to become a supporter, you can do so here.

As I said in January, this fundraiser gets the ball rolling. Or perhaps it’s more accurate to say it keeps the ball rolling. But it IS rolling, and I thank you more than you know for that. And for keeping it all low key of course!
