Paul Ryan told Charlie Sykes yesterday that he felt it was part of his responsibility as speaker to respect the Democratic process and support Trump.
“I’m the Speaker of the House. With this job comes different responsibilities than say if I were, you know, just a Congressman from Wisconsin.”
While Ryan didn’t explicitly say that he wouldn’t support Trump if he were “just a Congressman from Wisconsin” without the responsibilities of being Speaker, you get the idea from his comments that he wouldn’t be supporting Trump if he weren’t Speaker of the House.
