PELOSI: House will VOTE on sending impeachment tomorrow

Nancy Pelosi has announced that the House will vote tomorrow on sending impeachment to the Senate:

AXIOS – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told a private caucus of Democratic lawmakers on Tuesday that she will likely hold a vote on a resolution that would transmit the articles of impeachment against President Trump to the Senate on Wednesday, Axios has confirmed.

The vote would end Pelosi’s pressure campaign against Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to allow additional documents and witnesses in the Senate’s impeachment trial — and allow it to officially kick off in the coming days.

This vote doesn’t make any sense. The House has ALREADY voted to send these impeachment articles to the Senate when they voted to impeach. There doesn’t need to be a new special vote to make this happen.

This extra voting is simply to try and make Pelosi look justified in holding up the impeachment articles, making it seem like a House decision when it was really her decision to hold them up in the first place. And what did it accomplish? Nothing, which is why she finally surrendered.

It is still my hope that the Senate will vote to dismiss the impeachment articles, but I doubt that will happen. Rather my expectation is that McConnell and the White House will hold a short trial to present the House impeachment arguments with rebuttal and then be done with it. The sooner the better.
