Yesterday radical leftist Pete Buttigieg decided to politicize Christmas by referring to Jesus as a poor refugee:
Today I join millions around the world in celebrating the arrival of divinity on earth, who came into this world not in riches but in poverty, not as a citizen but as a refugee.
No matter where or how we celebrate, merry Christmas.

Buttigieg wants to make Jesus seem like a ‘refugee’ to further his own open borders policies even though it’s not true, as Matthew Walsh explains:
Joseph and Mary went to their ancestral home in Bethlehem for a census. In no sense did Jesus “come into this world as a refugee.” There’s also no reason to think that Joseph was particularly impoverished. So nothing about this tweet is correct. https://t.co/KNOCzvb4dc

And no He wasn’t a refugee in Egypt either. Egypt was a Roman territory at the time. The Holy Family was fleeing the persecution of the client king of Judea, not the Roman Emperor.

I agree with Walsh on everything except on this point, Jesus was poor. Luke tells us that Joseph and Mary could only afford “two turtle doves or pigeons” when they presented him to the Lord in the Temple, meaning they couldn’t afford a lamb to be sacrificed.
Back to the refugee point, here’s how others responded on Twitter:
I think at this point I would take a Warren/Sanders dictatorship over even five minutes of smarmy heretic President Pete. https://t.co/25jWBOx8Dt

1. Jesus was not a refugee
2. Using this day as your political weapon of choice shows how fake you are https://t.co/TdxmBrbyYL— Caleb Hull 🎅🏻🎁 (@CalebJHull) December 26, 2019

You were doing OK until "refugee." Joseph & Mary were in Bethlehem because the government commanded them there to pay taxes.
A Christian would know this. https://t.co/gXx6GAJ5MD

Jesus. The name you didn't want to say on Christmas day was "Jesus." https://t.co/9UzIjmfsGp
