Biden’s Transportation Secretary was asked this morning about the terrible response by the federal government after the disaster in East Palestine earlier this month. Specifically he was told there were shouts of ‘where is Pete Buttigieg’ at a recent townhall and was asked when he was going to go.
Buttigieg said he is planning on going to East Palestine but didn’t say when.

Buttigieg emphasizes his experience as a two-term mayor of his hometown, but I’m sure that will ring hollow to East Palestine residents who have been dealing with this crisis for almost three weeks and he’s been nowhere to be found.
He claims that when he does go his focus will be on ‘action’. But again, it’s been almost three weeks. Are residents supposed to embrace his arrival because he’s finally going to show up and do something?
Buttigieg is like most federal politicians. They don’t care about flyover country until the cries from residents become deafening.
He should have taken a page from JD Vance’s playbook and showed up there a long time ago. All I expect he’ll be getting when he does arrive is jeers and insults from the crowd.
