Pete Buttigieg says America “was never great as advertised”

2020 Democratic candidate Pete Buttigieg said just yesterday before a crowd in South Carolina that America “was never great as advertised”, knocking Trump’s MAGA slogan:

Here’s a transcript:

So many of the solutions are going to come from our communities, communities like the one where I grew up which is an industrial Midwest city, that is exactly the kind of place that our current president targeted with a message saying that we can find greatness just by stopping the clock and turning it back and making America great again. When that past that he is promising to return us to was never as great as advertised, especially for marginalized Americans. And there’s no going back anyway.

I bet America’s greatest generation would have something to say about this!

It’s amazing how Democrats over the years try to get elected based on the notion that America was never great. Remember when Michelle Obama said something very similar during Obama’s first campaign for president, noting that she’d never been been proud of this country until now?

America has certainly had it’s share of problems since it’s inception, but we as a country have always overcome, even if it meant a civil war to do so!

It’s a shame Democrats like Buttigieg want to stomp on America’s past in order to get elected. And it’s not just a shame, it’s offensive, especially to a great many American citizens who’ve had family members and friends who’ve given everything to make American great.
