So we have a few more facts about the horrific Odessa shooting yesterday via the police press conference today.
BREAKING: Texas law enforcement officials say that they believe the suspect in yesterday's tragedy in Odessa had a criminal record and they will be releasing more information on it
— Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) September 1, 2019
If he had a criminal record then he most likely would not have been able to legally own a firearm
This makes sense. The attack started when he was pulled over. It would make sense that he freaked out if he had guns in his possession illegally.
But that undoes the liberal narrative of the shooting doesn’t it?
Police in Texas just revealed that the Odessa shooter had a criminal record. Sounding more and more likely that he was in possession of a gun illegally. A new gun law can’t stop a shooter if the shooter is already using a gun illegally.

If the guy was already breaking gun laws, then what new gun law would keep him from obtaining a gun?
There’s some question about why they didn’t identify the shooter, which we’re told is white and in his thirties:
I missed part of the Odessa press conference. Did they give a reason for withholding the identity of the shooter?

Odessa police chief refuses to publicly name the suspect for Saturday's mass shooting: "I'm not going to give him any notoriety for what he did" https://t.co/H9n7JKbYS7 pic.twitter.com/NieQouVIJ9

Which is leading some on the left to conjure up conspiracy theories:
Is it me or were the Odessa police acting abnormal for the aftermath of a shooting.

Can’t be hypocritical about this – the dumber knee-jerk on our side always do that whenever there’s a shooting. But it is worth noting.
No terror links yet, neither domestic nor foreign:
The FBI said they do not believe there is any connection to domestic or international terrorism, in the Odessa and Midland shootings from Saturday.

Police say there was only one shooter. No idea what his motive is yet:
Odessa police say they are now confident there was only one shooter yesterday.

I see people always pitching conspiracy theories when it’s first reported that there are two shooters and later it turns out to be one. This happens a lot. It’s because eyewitness accounts are very unreliable in a high stress situation. People report rumors, or assumptions, or just plain lies, out of caution. It annoys me to no end to see people make bad faith arguments about extra shooters, it is just plain despicable.
It’s reported that the shooter used something like an AR-15 rifle:
Weapon used in yesterday's Midland-Odessa shooting was an "AR type" weapon, according to Odessa Police Chief.

I’m not sure why they use this phrasing. Wouldn’t they know exactly what he used by now? I see this reticence with every shooting, and find it odd. But not conspiracy-inspiring, sorry.
Here’s the video of the whole press conference:
