A 60-year-old man who was critically beaten during a $1 robbery on Christmas Eve has succumbed to his injuries.
Juan Fresnada and a 29-year-old acquaintance were walking along 3rd Avenue in the Bronx in New York City when a group of unidentified males approached them around 1:25 a.m. on Tuesday.
The assailants demanded Fresnada and the other man give them their belongings. When they refused, the attackers pummeled the two with punches and kicks. In total, the thieves made off with just $1 before running away from the scene of the crime.
Fresnada was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries, which included bleeding in his brain, on Friday afternoon. The younger man declined medical treatment for his injuries.
