PolitiFact says DeSantis claim is TRUE, but then quickly excuses it away…

The other week when DeSantis defended Trump against the ridiculous charges brought by DA Alvin Bragg, he said that Bragg had made New Yorkers less safe by downgrading 52% of felonies to misdemeanors.

PolitiFact decided to fact-check this claim and found that DeSantis was telling the truth, that he was right.

But then they quickly excused it away as common practice, suggesting it is no big deal:

What garbage. It may be common practice in New York but that doesn’t make it right.

PolitiFact quotes legal experts who say that this downgrading is common “because prosecutors have more complete information than police officers do at the time of an arrest.”

But they don’t quote any experts explaining how harmful this is to the safety of citizens or how there is a political agenda at work behind these ‘downgrades’ that isn’t based on ‘more complete information’.
