The police union in Portland is essentially begging the city to re-fund police with new billboards as crime skyrockets in the city to levels unseen in years:
The local news in Portland is covering this, noting that it’s not that police officers aren’t doing their jobs, but that they are overwhelmed by the number of calls they are getting and simply don’t have the manpower to deal with the calls.
As Fox 12 points out, there were 891 shootings in the city in all of 2020, and as 2021 is just half over there are already 719. This compared to just 388 in 2019.
