Ed Rollins, who runs a pro-Trump super PAC, explained to Fox Business why Trump is having such a hard time raising money:
Rollins says this:
“But the critical thing here is – after Indiana – the party started coming behind him. And they were all ready to go. Then he had his judge comment in California, which absolutely really put a spear through the heart of the donors.”
This is from a guy who is trying to raise money for Trump, so he should know. And he says that these investors and donors actually want Trump to win, to beat Hillary. But they put their checkbooks back in their pockets once he said that.
So what is Rollins really saying? Republican donors don’t want to waste their money on a lost cause. It’s really that simple. And that’s exactly what Trump looks like right now, a lost cause.
UPDATE: As Joe Schafer pointed out to me on Twitter, the donors also don’t want to be seen funding a racist. Good point.
