The protesters learned a very important lesson overnight – don’t mess with the police in North Carolina. They tried to build one of their “autonomous zones” in Asheville, North Carolina:
Asheville, NC Is in the process of creating an autonomous zone. I am here as a medic and we have a medical team set up right outside the boundaries. Stay safe. pic.twitter.com/uJZPLzs2SR

The police are attempting to take down the barricades and force the protestors off the street.

There is currently a bit of a standoff between protestors and police. Protestors have been pushed back to the sidewalks but I am hearing plans about creating new barriers.

A standoff? Doesn’t look like a standoff:

LOL!
Just spoke with one of the organizers. Apparently they have a lot more people on the way and they intend to hold the area.

Sure pal.
And here’s the aftermath:

According to @AshevillePolice, protestors began constructing barricades with wood pallets across Lexington Ave. after 9 p.m. last night as more officers arrived to the area. Officers said they gave warnings and then removed the barricades as protestors left.

Just because you’re upset your mother won’t respect your boundaries while you play video games in the garage loft of your parents’ home doesn’t mean you get to do some Mad Max larping in public spaces. If only other cities would take a tip on “community policing” from North Carolina.
