Today White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki previewed Joe Biden’s speech for tomorrow and in doing so made the most absurd claim about the recent passage of new voting laws in red states:
Here’s the important part of what she said:
The necessity of passing the for the people act and the John Lewis voting rights advancement act and how we need to work together with civil rights organizations to build as broad a turn out and vote our education system to overcome the worst challenged our democracy since the Civil War.
Ok there’s a lot of idiotic words in here ridiculous statement, but the most absurd was saying that these voting laws are “the worst challenged our democracy since the Civil War.” What in the hell is she talking about?
Forget about the old Democrat Jim Crow laws in the South, I guess. Forget about forcing people to pay poll taxes or guess the number of jelly beans in a jar before the can vote. Forget about forced segregation. Forget about all of that. Because we know the real sin of this country is forcing people to show an ID when they vote! It’s telling people that they have just shy of three months before the election to request an absentee ballot! It’s refusing to allow ballot harvesting! It’s forcing them to write their ID number on the absentee ballot when returning it. It’s all of those horrible things that red states are doing to protect someone’s right to vote and not have it infringed by voter fraud. How dare they! Republicans might as well be slave owners because this is outrageous!!!!
