Liberals freaked out when Rep. Conaway said something really odd during his interview this morning on Meet the Press:
WATCH: Conaway: No conclusion on collusion, but ‘we found no evidence’ in House Intel Committee investigation pic.twitter.com/C7ul3ejXbj

What? Doesn’t that completely undermine what everyone is saying about that report?!?!?
CONAWAY says House Intel Committee did NOT conclude there was no collusion between Trump campaign and Russia. "What we said is that we found no evidence of it. That's a different statement."

He notes they didn't talk to several central witnesses.
Watching Rep. Conaway on Meet The Press. He said he was missing church to be on the show. He should have gone to church.

Rep. Conaway confirmed on @NBC that the House Intel Committee closed shop despite fact it never interviewed George Papadopoulos, the key figure whose actions prompted the start of an FBI probe on Russia/Trump.

Trump: The House Intelligence Committee investigation didn't find COLLUSION! WITCH HUNT!
— Pé Resists (@4everNeverTrump) March 18, 2018
GOP Representative Conaway (who headed that investigation): We didn't investigate collusion.
Conaway just breathing hard & blustering weakly. Should have just gone to church today & let someone less gibberishy go on.

Never seen such an appalling, inept and confused performance as Rep. Miek Conaway on @MeetThePres. @SpeakerRyan should be embarrased to have a committee so pathetically led. @chucktodd revealed what a fraud their "investigation" has been

Soooo he just walked it back. Said he made a mistake.
A spokeswoman for Rep. Mike Conaway said he misspoke Sunday morning when he said the House Intelligence Committee was not tasked with investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.
Conaway, R-Texas, was the leader of the committee’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. He told Chuck Todd, host of NBC’s “Meet The Press,” the committee was not tasked with investigating collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.
But, his spokeswoman said he misspoke and actually meant to say “obstruction,” as in whether Trump firing FBI Director James Comey was obstruction of justice.
“As Mr. Conaway and Chuck Todd were discussing the firing of Andrew McCabe, Mr. Conaway remarked that HPSCI’s Russia Investigation wasn’t tasked with looking into the firing of James Comey, McCabe, or other issues related to allegations of obstruction of justice,” said Emily Hytha, spokeswoman for Conaway. “During that discussion, Mr. Conaway misspoke when he indicated the Committee did not investigate collusion, when he clearly meant obstruction.”
Very odd. But people make mistakes right? Right.
What this DOES highlight though is that we just don’t know what is in Mueller’s investigation. It could be nothing or it could be a lot. We just don’t know. So it’s just as stupid to hope that Trump will be impeached, as it is to say that Mueller’s probe should be shut down because there’s no evidence of anything. We don’t know.
So have yourselves a merry little open thread.
Here’s some comment fodder – the opening to SNL was actually pretty funny I thought:
