This is surprising – one of the most viciously left-wing weirdos in the Democratic party is telling the rest of them to compromise with Trump and the Republicans in order to get their immigration amnesty pushed through.
From the Hill:
Outgoing Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), an outspoken advocate for immigration reform, urged Democrats to pay whatever “ransom” necessary to make progress on the hot button issue.
“For my friends on the left, remember, there’s going to be a ransom that is going to be required,” Gutiérrez told NBC News in an interview published Friday. “Pay it. It’s the right thing to do, because we’re never going to be able to overcome the 60 votes in the Senate.”
I mean, this makes sense right. And this is exactly why the founders set up the system we have, so that neither extreme can push their agenda, but have to compromise in the center, or not get anything through at all.
He even hints that they may have to give in on the wall:
“There are people on the right that are going to want certain things,” he added. “I don’t know if we have to give them a wall … but we’re gonna have to sit down and negotiate.”
Wow. That’s kinda yuge, even if he’s leaving Congress. All you need is cracks in the Dem coalition to get start snowballing, and before you know it, Trump will be cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony for the border wall with yuge giant scissors.
