Rep. Jayapal from Washington State gave a disgusting answer when asked about Hamas raping Israeli women. The point of the question by CNN host Dana Bash was that progressives, while the normally stand up for women who are raped, are not really talking about these horrific rapes of Israeli women.
Jaypal claimed that progressives have condemned and that she did also. But then she quickly turned around and attacked Israel, suggesting they are not obeying international law or something.
Bash pushed back and put Jayapal on the spot, saying that her question was about the rape of these Israeli women by Hamas and that Jayapal started talking about Israel and international humanitarian law.
Jayapal claimed that she answer the question and again gave lip service condemning Hamas for these rapes. But she quickly pivoted to talking about “outrages” happening to the Palestinians. She said that Hamas uses these rapes as tools and that they “happen in war situations”, but then said “we have to be balanced about bringing in the outrages against Palestinians.”
In other words rape happens in war. Big deal. But what’s really important is what’s happening to the Palestinians.
Absolutely disgusting.
Here's a member of Congress telling us that since Israel isn't well liked, the Israeli women who were raped by Hamas don't deserve the support of progressives.
