Citizens United released a YouTube video today suggesting that the repeal of ‘Dont Ask. Don’t Tell’. will require reinstating the draft. They cite a statistic from the Pentagon that says 4 out of 10 Marines may leave the service if DADT is repealed:
About the time I saw this on twitter, I heard someone making the very same point to Rush (minus the statistic). Rush’s response was simply that we’ll have to wait and see. As for me, I kinda find it hard to believe that 40 percent of Marines would leave the service. So many times we hear stories of soldiers wanting to fight for the United States of America because they immensely believe in her freedom, and that even injured soliders want nothing more than to heal and return to battle. Given that, I find this notion very hard to believe.
