‘Repent to Allah’: Man who attacked Times Square cops with machete (incl. rookie on 1ST day) had disturbing MANIFESTO

Three police officers were attacked in Times Square during the New Year’s Eve celebrations by a man who approached them pretending to have a question and then began slashing with a machete.

He struck one officer in the head with the machete, and slashed at two more officers during the struggle, possibly striking one with a pipe, before he was shot in the shoulder and taken into custody according to the NYPD.

The suspect, 19-year-old Trevor Bickford of Maine, was reportedly already on the FBI’s “radar” for ties to Islamic extremism.

A high-level police source also tells Fox News Digital that Bickford was being watched by the FBI’s counterterrorism task force in the weeks leading up to Saturday’s attack. The source also said Bickford recently converted to Islam and a tipster claimed he had expressed interest in going to Afghanistan.

The officer who was slashed in the head with the machete is a rookie who was on his first day on the job. He graduated training on Friday.

The officer — who graduated Friday and was assigned to a Staten Island precinct but was working the New Year’s Eve detail for the night — was stationed at West 52nd Street and 8th Avenue when the machete-wielding madman approached him and two other officers around 9:30 p.m., NYPD sources told The Post.

The post was outside the area attendees were being screened for weapons, Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said at a press conference early Sunday.

The rookie cop was slashed in the head, prompting another cop to shoot the suspect. The rookie cop, identified by Mayor Eric Adams as Paul, was struck on the head, prompting another cop to shoot the suspect, striking him in the shoulder, the sources said. Paul suffered a large laceration and skull fracture, Sewell said.

One of the other cops, an eight-year veteran, was also struck on the head with the weapon and suffered a laceration.

This is being investigated as terrorism and for obvious reasons. The man machete-attacked a rookie cop at a public location during a major event. It was obviously terrorism, meant to inspire fear in the name of a radical ideology.

And what ideology was that? WELL OBVIOUSLY…

He had on him a handwritten and, as the Post put it, “disturbing manifesto” in which he urged his family to “please repent to Allah and accept Islam.”

Bickford “carried the handwritten note in his backpack, along with a collection of religious material and $200,” the Post reports.

“To my family — specifically, mother — I’m sorry for not having been a good enough son,” the note read, according to a police source.

“I fear greatly that you will not repent to Allah,” it said. “And therefore I hold hope in my heart that a piece of you believes so that you may be taken out to the hellfire.

“To [my brother] Travis. Of anyone I’ve known who I have felt is closest to faith — it’s you,” he allegedly wrote. “Of anyone I’ve ever wanted to accept Islam with me — it’s you. Please repent to Allah and accept Islam. I fear for you.

“To [my other brother] Devon, there was a time when we were close, but that time has passed,” the manifesto said. “You have joined the ranks of my enemy. And for that I can give you no kind words – return to Allah.”

Authorities believe he became a “radicalized” Muslim after the death of his father to a drug overdose. He “traveled to New York alone on an Amtrak train and was staying at the Bowery Mission, packing camping gear, a diary and a last will and testament,” they add.

“I want to be clear that the FBI, through the Joint Terrorism Task Force, is working very closely with [NYPD] to determine the nature of this attack,” said Michael Driscoll of the FBI on Sunday.

He was already being watched as an Islamic radical. But traveled on Amtrak to the biggest New Year’s Eve celebration in the world armed with a machete and the trappings of his terrorist ideology where he was able to wound three NYPD officers before he was stopped.

Maybe the FBI should be working a little harder on that instead of spending their time monitoring Twitter for bad opinions, eh?
