REPORT: GOP Senator working on deal to call only two witnesses…

It’s starting to look like we’re gonna have witnesses, at least two of them:

DC EXAMINER – An influential Republican senator has spoken with several of his GOP colleagues in recent days about making a deal with Senate Democrats to call just two witnesses in President Trump’s impeachment trial.

Sen. Patrick Toomey of Pennsylvania told his colleagues that a “one-for-one” deal with Senate Democrats might be necessary, especially as pressure builds for witness testimony, according to the Washington Post.

Toomey has discussed the proposal with Republican Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah as well as others. Two Senate Republican aides said Romney was generally supportive of the proposal but had not yet backed any specific plan.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky has thus far not been open to the potential deal, telling Senate Republicans to hold off on any witness deal until after Trump’s defense team is done making its case.

I’m really not happy about calling any witnesses, as you know. I’ve been against them from the beginning. But if we’re gonna call any, it needs to be as few a number as possible.

Honestly I’m not sure what good it’s going to do to call Bolton, because he’ll be quite limited in what he can say due to executive privilege. And I assume the other witness would be Hunter Biden, and I fully expect him to pull a Lois Lerner and plead the fifth.

How this ends I don’t know. But I’ll update you when I get more on this.
