REPORT: Here’s why President Trump had to sign order extending deadline for TikTok purchase

Earlier today we told you that President Trump would be signing an executive order extending the deadline for the purchase of TikTok.

Now, thanks to some reporting by DC Examiner, we may know why:

White House, with VP running point, had finalized a TikTok deal that had been signed off on by ByteDance ON WEDNESDAY, per source familiar. ByteDance/China reversed their position following Trump’s tariff announcement… said no deal could be reached before trade negotiations.

The White House was still debating Friday morning whether or not they could announce the tentative deal…

Trump did mention in his post today that China wasn’t happy with this tariff plan. So I think this reporting is probably true.
