REPORT: Joe Biden called Liz Cheney after she lost to Harriet Hageman

After Liz Cheney’s chances of remaining in Congress were obliterated by Harriet Hageman on Tuesday night, Joe Biden picked up the phone yesterday and called Cheney about her loss.

Via DC Examiner:

President Joe Biden called Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) after the incumbent lost her reelection bid earlier this week.

The call was placed on Wednesday, one day after the race was called in favor of Trump-backed Harriet Hageman, according to Bloomberg. It’s not clear what the conversation entailed, but it came hours after Cheney suggested a presidential run in 2024.

“I will be doing whatever it takes to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office,” Cheney told NBC’s Today show on Wednesday. “That’s a decision that I’m going to make in the coming months. I’m not going to make any announcements here this morning, but it is something that I am thinking about.”

We don’t know what was said between Joe and Liz but I think we can imagine it had less to do with her losing the race and more to do with defeating Donald Trump in 2024.

After all, their mutual hatred for Trump makes them allies. I’m sure Joe wanted her to know she’s got his support in trying to play spoiler in order to help him defeat Trump. Or something.

And just to point this out, Biden called her while he’s on vacation at his home in Delaware. He can’t be bothered to answer questions from the press but he can sure make time to call Cheney.
