Kevin McCarthy reportedly gave the real reason, from his perspective, why he was ousted as House Speaker last year.
Via Ben Jacobs, McCarthy said hew as vacated because “one person wanted me to stop an ethics complaint because he slept with a 17 year old.”
Kevin McCarthy says the only reason that he is not Speaker is because "one person wanted me to stop an ethics complaint because he slept with a 17 year old"

Of course McCarthy didn’t say who the “one person” is, but I’d imagine it is one of those who voted for his ouster. There was one member in particular who McCarthy seemed to dislike the most, elbowing and shoving Tim Burchett in the hallway last November. But there’s no way to know who McCarthy was talking about unless he spills the beans, which he is very unlikely to do.
UPDATE: I didn’t pick up on the fact that McCarthy was talking about Matt Gaetz. Doh! Sorry, about that. Below is the video of McCarthy actually saying this:
Kevin McCarthy on Matt Gaetz:
"I'll give you the truth why I'm not Speaker, its because one person, a member of Congress, wanted me to stop an ethics complaint because he slept with a 17 year old."
Brutal.
