According to reporter Ryan Girdusky, he’s got sources in the Trump administration saying that a long-time ally of Kirstjen Nielsen is being considered to run DHS and several people are ready to quit if it happens:
SCOOP: According to 4 sources within the administration, Kirstjen Nielsen ally Chad Wolf is being considered for the job of #DHS Secretary (Thread)

Politico says Chad Wolf being considered for acting DHS Sec. Wolf was former chief of staff for @SecNielsen so that would be a surprise move. @RyanGirdusky first reported this possibility earlier this am.

Before joining the Trump Administration, Chad Wolf was a lobbyist who worked to try and increase the number of H1b visas… he’s now being considered for DHS Secretary according to my sourceshttps://t.co/L3chfwqiep

So what about Ken Cuccinelli? He may not be eligible:
According to my sources, Trump has been warned he cannot tap Cuccinelli into the position because of the Federal Vacancies Reform Act… even though some experts disagree👇 https://t.co/WcCZD6BJs6

And Stephen Miller is part of the problem:
Two people in particular are pushing Trump away from appointing Cuccinelli…. Sean Doocey from PPO and Stephen Miller

This should not surprise anyone who's read my reporting on Stephen Miller… when he's not claiming credit for everything immigration related, he's often times pushing other immigration hawks out of the administration

Chad Wolf is reportedly someone “committed to stopping the Trump agenda from within the administration” and some MAGA people will quit if he gets hired:
Back to Wolf being considered for the nomination…. this is not sitting well with MAGA people inside the administration who are threatening to quit if he's appointed.

One said to me, "A lot of us are going to start leaving (if Wolf is appointed), I'm not here to work for Democrats and I'm not alone"
— Ryan James Girdusky (@RyanGirdusky) October 20, 2019
Wolf was a long time ally of Nielsen's in the WH and one of the people committed to stopping the Trump agenda from within the administration. I cited him back in April 2019 as one of the worst people inside DHShttps://t.co/9XnELT3DfK

If Wolf gets the job, some feel recent immigration progress will be lost:
If Wolf is picked, many of Trump's loyal people from within the admin believe all the progress made on immigration in the last few months will be completely gone.
— Ryan James Girdusky (@RyanGirdusky) October 20, 2019
That doesn't mean this is set in stone, but @realDonaldTrump should know if he picks Chad Wolf as he's being advised to do, a lot of his best people are prepared to walk.
— Ryan James Girdusky (@RyanGirdusky) October 20, 2019
Wolf is part of the swamp…
Here's Chad Wolf's resume… he's worked for the federal government under Bush, Obama, and now Trump… the swamp Trump promised to drainhttps://t.co/RG5mgm7CR0

One would hope that after nearly 3 years, Trump would learn his lesson about hiring people who will stab him in the back. Let’s hope he has and he won’t repeat the same mistakes.
