REPORT: Trump to pick Amy Coney Barrett for Supreme Court

It’s being reported by Bloomberg that Trump is likely to pick Amy Coney Barrett as his nominee to replace the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court:

BLOOMBERG – Donald Trump is moving toward nominating Amy Coney Barrett to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court, according to people familiar with the matter, despite the president saying Monday he’s considering as many as five candidates.

Barrett was at the White House on Monday, one of the people said. She is a favorite of anti-abortion rights advocates, who are heavily lobbying the White House and Trump personally to nominate her. She’s preferred by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, according to people close to him.

Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday he is looking at “five women” to fill the vacancy but has “one or two” of them in mind as finalists. When asked if Barrett is one of the the finalists, the president said, “she’s one of the people that is very respected, but they’re all respected.”

“She’s certainly one of the candidates, yes,” he said.

This isn’t a surprise in the least – in fact it’s expected. Her name has been going around since we learned about Ginsburg’s death on Friday night.

Patrick Madrid from Relevant Radio posted this pick late Friday night as the news was going around:

Ever since Dianne Feinstein confirmed for us in 2017 that the ‘dogma’ lives loudly in Barrett, I’ve been a fan. The fact that she’s Catholic is a big bonus and I’m sure she’ll make a great justice on the high court.

That is if this is who Trump picks. I truly hope it is, but it wouldn’t be the first time we heard one thing and he picked someone else entirely. So keep that in mind.
