It looks like the pressure is mounting on Trump’s acting DHS Chief to resign and it has everything to do with the ICE raids:
POLITICO – Hard-liners inside and outside the Trump administration are pressing for the removal of President Donald Trump’s acting Homeland Security secretary amid a rolling leadership purge that began in April and shows no signs of ending, according to five people in the Trump administration and four former Department of Homeland Security officials.
Kevin McAleenan, who took over the post less than three months ago, is under heavy criticism from prominent Trump allies, including former Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Thomas Homan, who may become the administration’s immigration czar.
Following the purge of three other immigration officials since the April resignation of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, McAleenan stands accused of disloyalty to the Trump White House’s hard line on immigration because of a perception that he didn’t support ICE raids targeting migrant families scheduled to begin last weekend.
We told you the other day that Homan accused McAleenan of leaking the raids to the Washington Post.
And then came all the reporting on McAleenan’s contributions to Democrats. Clearly there is a campaign afoot to get him out.
“There is no question that the president is sensitive to the lack of progress in resolving this crisis at the border and frustrated with the pace of changes, and it has become increasingly evident that one of the main reasons for the lack of progress is because Kevin McAleenan has been reluctant to take action that would more effective,” said Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at the restrictionist Center for Immigration Studies. “A lot of ideas proposed have been bottled up by him and his front office.”
The Trump White House assumed McAleenan could work with Democrats on Capitol Hill to secure more funding and policy changes, since he’s worked under both Republican and Democratic administrations, Vaughan said. But “he has not been able to deliver on those things.”
Democrats aren’t gonna be fooled by one of their own. Trump could send Obama to secure more funding and they wouldn’t budge – because they want to defeat Trump next year and everything is about the election.
So don’t be surprised if you hear in the next few days, perhaps on July 4th itself, that the acting DHS Secretary wants to spend more time with his family or something…
Unfortunately “allegations” are not proof.
My preference was Kris Kobach. He had a lot of good ideas & is involved with building the wall via donations.
Just quit pissing around and put Ken Cuccenilli in that spot. He’ll take care of business. He’s the only true Republican left in Virginia. (sniff/sob)
Finally,somebody else [ and not just us here at the Right Scoop ],sees that the President made a terrible mistake in selecting McAleenan.Well how do you know that big Sir. Because not one Damn Democrat opposes him being the Director of Homeland Security and because the workers at homeland Security are happy to see him go.I realize we cannot trust the FBI and the DOJ to do the Presidents vetting. But for a very few instances the President has failed miserably in putting the right person in the right spot.I am tired of watching the same damn names rotating from top government positions to another top Government position. Geez how long is this going to last.

That should’ve been a red flag to the Trump admin right there. Especially since the Dems object to Trump breathing these days.

What is your problem exactly? It’s an appointed position and he functions at the pleasure of the democratically elected president, so insubordination should not be tolerated.
Trump needs to have a closer look at his closest advisors…
It’s 30 months into his presidency. If he can’t do something as simple as hiring a conservative DHS head by now, he’ll never strengthen border security.
He’s got Ken Cuchinelli (sp?)….Trusted real conservative. If he manages to get things done, then hopefully Trump will see the “light”.

Trump needs to get a handle on this situation and stop listening to Rush and Hannity and start listening to Daniel Horowitz. Ridiculous.
Sadly I heard quite awhile back that Trump said as long as he does not lose Rush and Hannity he does not care about the others. He has probably never heard of Daniel despite all Horowitz vast knowledge on immigration and other topics. Wish Levin would get to his buddy Hannity and make him realize putting pressure on Trump and holding him accountable is better in the long run.
Rush and Hannity are going to make Trump a one term president if they don’t reach him on immigration and the border.
