It was reported last night that Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, who just won election in 2021, is reconsidering a bid for the presidency in 2024.
Via Axios:
Some powerful GOP donors, who won’t support Trump but are beginning to be concerned about DeSantis, are encouraging Youngkin to jump into the 2024 field.
“He’s reconsidering,” a top source close to Youngkin told Axios. “He’d be in his own lane: He’s not never-Trump, and he’s not Trump-light.”
A top Virginia GOP strategist told Axios there are “serious discussions happening on re-engaging in the presidential” race.
Youngkin faces high-stakes state legislative races in November. So an announcement about a presidential race is likely to wait until right after that, Republican sources said.
Youngkin released a video last week that has also spurred on speculation that he’s reconsidering a run for president:

It’s funny to me that they are worried about DeSantis when he hasn’t even announced yet and thus hasn’t had the chance to make a compelling argument for votes.
Also the report suggests he’d wait until after November to announce?? That seems a little late by most standards but I guess he’s hoping to swoop in on a broken field or something…
