You might feel like we’ve just traveled back in time 150 years, because Democrats in the House are holding a hearing tomorrow on reparations and slavery.
Today a reporter asked McConnell how he feels about the subject and whether Congress or Trump should apologize for slavery:

Despite his diplomacy, I love his answer which is quite to the point: “Yeah I don’t think reparations for something that happened 150 years ago for whom none of us currently living are responsible is a good idea.”
McConnell points out that America has tried to deal with this in the past by fighting a civil war and then passing landmark civil rights legislation. He goes on to say “but no one currently alive was responsible for that.”
That’s exactly right. Democrats just can’t let go of their victim mentality despite the fact that slavery is long ago dead and well into America’s past. And I’m glad McConnell put the kibosh on this so succinctly.

If they want reparations, start with suing the tribal Leaders in Africa that sold them into slavery!
Let’s be honest here… those clamoring for reparations are really just looking for a check, and a single check will never do, it will have to be monthly checks well into perpetuity for their kids, grandkids, GREAT-grandkids, until the end of time. Just like Affirmative Action, there is no end to it, it’s a perpetual gimmedat wherein one part of the population would forever surrender a portion of their wealth to another part of the population, long after the original imagined offense is forgotten.
The only reparation I can accept (being male and white) is that they live in a free country, made so by the sacrifices of countless millions of our ancestors, that will enable any minority person to use whatever talents and drive they have to succeed. Thus endeth the lesson.

The world has moved on, and nobody ever gets reparations just because they descend from people who were once mistreated.

If you pay reparations to all African-Americans, you may end up paying reparations to the descendants of people who started the slave trade, or to recent immigrants from Africa. And you may be taking money from people whose ancestors were abolitionists who fought the slave trade.

I feel far more empathy for those who’s family members died in concentration camps. We were not responsible and yet I believe the whole world was responsible as it was happening. You don’t kill 6 millions people overnight. Not only were no reparations made but they were robbed first by the Nazis and then by the Swiss bankers and others who received the belongings of the murdered.
Not to mention that roughly 1/3 of all slaves brought to the colonies were white, predominantly Irish. Are we only going to pay black slave descendants and not whites?

Free passage and a generous stipend was offered any freed slave who wanted to return. this program needs more publicity. Because any slave ancestor who refused this offer cut off all other claims and made their choice to stay in America and become an American.

In one of the bloodiest wars in American history upwards of 300,000+ Union soldiers both white and black (as well as some other races) died. Those numbers have recently been re-figured upwards with new data. Regardless of other reasons for the Civil War those people died in a collateral effort to free slaves and end the institution of slavery. If the spilled blood of so many Americans was not enough reparation then what ever could be? This is being done in several ways, including allowing mass migrations of populations from third world countries to Europe and North America. It appears blacks are financially illiterate, unable to establish economic independence as a community. If anyone should apologize for slavery, it should be the entire democrat party. They were the Klan and not only did they terrorize the blacks they also terrorized the Catholics and the Jews. If you pay reparations to all African-Americans, you may end up paying reparations to the descendants of people who started the slave trade, or to recent immigrants from Africa. And you may be taking money from people whose ancestors were abolitionists who fought the slave trade.

A little O/T but listening to Beck this morning and the facts are only 4% of all the slaves shipped out of Africa ended up in the USA. The largest group of all slaves ended up in Brazil (50%). As I said O/T but interesting. The Dems think that slavery was all a US problem when in fact it was a major issue all over and smaller here then in most places.
Now on the reparations front I an fine with paying 40 acres and a mule to any person alive today that was a slave in their lifetime, but not to every “African American” who wants it. That’s been my thoughts on reparations for years. He’s going to be ignored because it’s not the answer they wanted. People from all over Africa and many other places in the world where slavery, genocide, and other human rights violations are alive and well come to America to escape oppression but white people in America are expected to pony up the cash for something none of us did and give it to people who have never personally been a slave.

In one of the bloodiest wars in American history upwards of 300,000+ Union soldiers both white and black (as well as some other races) died. Those numbers have recently been re-figured upwards with new data. Regardless of other reasons for the Civil War those people died in a collateral effort to free slaves and end the institution of slavery. If the spilled blood of so many Americans was not enough reparation then what ever could be? The Democrat Party consists of geriatric adolescents ministering to the juvenile proletariat, inciting them against family and society with intent to harm, toward violent revolution against parental figures they believe, against all evidence, cheated them out of their free stuff in the 2016 election.
All politics begin and end in the family home, the nuclear, mommy-daddy-me family in which daily friction heats up to forge adult character fit for independent living in the civilized world. The Founders knew this and created a divided government to pit children against parents, the young and the restless against their successful, much wiser parents who are the envy of the entire world, the American family, the supreme authority that represents God under which our republic exists.

Good grief, I failed to answer your original question, which is my main point also.
We are the grownups. Liberals are the child(ren) who did not mature into normal, independent adults in a free society. They want to play house instead of govern, robbing their parents’ fridge and wallets to give to make friends on the street. They only pretend to govern, and have no comprehension of the makings of the Free World, which exists as human consciousness in every citizen of every nation in the world. That is why the nature worship drives policies, i.e., new green revolution, a child’s fantasy adored all over the world because everybody loves animals and hates colonial whites who oppressed every continent as they brought civilization to their shores.
They are our children, the flesh or our species, Homo sapiens, which is a biological family unique among living creatures, capable of hosting the absolute miracle of human consciousness, able to contain all the beauty and secrets of the universe, the eye of God looking back upon creation and seeing it good.
Therefore, we must not hate or disdain liberals, but be kind to them as little children even when they are endangering national sovereignty and introduceing medeival diseases in American shthole cities, all goverened by the children of the Lord of the Flies, the base nature of our species that only parental love can quell.
It’s not because Jesus said these things that we should love our enemies; if we don’t, they will kill us outright in the most horrific genocide yet. The children are the strong force of nature driving animal purposes of survival, while our wisdom, cured over many decades of experience, is the weak force that must be cultivated and tended to as though our children of all ages are a delicate, floral garden.

My ancestors served in the Civil War. Most of us settled in the north and fought against slavery. One branch did wind up in Virginia, I’m not sure about them. In any event, I don’t owe anyone $#!+.

Agreed Doc. My ancestors came over in the mid 1700s as indentured servants and spent their first seven years in the South working to pay off their debt. Relatives fought in every war from the revolution to Vietnam. My dad was the first to own his home and graduate from college. No trust funds here. We all worked for what we had/have. Like you I don’t owe anyone $#!+.
@dukehoopsfan And ironically, it was common for slaves to be treated better than the indentured servants. The slaves were valuable property and the servants were just temps.
A little O/T but listening to Beck this morning and the facts are only 4% of all the slaves shipped out of Africa ended up in the USA. The largest group of all slaves ended up in Brazil (50%). As I said O/T but interesting. The Dems think that slavery was all a US problem when in fact it was a major issue all over and smaller here then in most places.
Now on the reparations front I an fine with paying 40 acres and a mule to any person alive today that was a slave in their lifetime, but not to every “African American” who wants it. And that is assuming anyone can prove with evidence that they are the offspring of a slave kept in the USA prior to the ending of slavery here. Not the Elizabeth Warren standard of proof “My family always told me I was Native American”

That’s been my thoughts on reparations for years. He’s going to be ignored because it’s not the answer they wanted. People from all over Africa and many other places in the world where slavery, genocide, and other human rights violations are alive and well come to America to escape oppression but white people in America are expected to pony up the cash for something none of us did and give it to people who have never personally been a slave.
Truth be told, every race of people throughout human history has been in bondage at some point in time. What are we to do, give them all money? And if we did, when and how much would be enough?
