Rick Santorum daughter admitted to hospital

Please keep Rick Santorum and his family in your prayers tonight and tomorrow:

PHILLY – The three-year-old daughter of Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum has been admitted to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the candidate has cancelled his Sunday morning campaign events to be at her side.

Santorum campaign spokesman Hogan Gidley said Saturday night that the former Pennsylvania senator and his wife, Karen, were with Bella at CHOP. Gidley said Santorum planned to return to campaigning as soon as possible in Florida, where the Republican primary is Tuesday.

Bella Santorum has Trisomy 18, a genetic condition caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 18th chromosome. Bella was not expected to survive until her first birthday and concerns over her health have canceled previous Santorum campaign events. The Santorums have been frequent visitors to CHOP with their daughter.

Here’s a video that, admittedly, is a tear jerker. But there are some of the cutest photos ever of his little daughter Bella. That’s where I got the one above.

My precious Granddaughter was born with T18 also. She was the joy of our lives. In her 9 months with us she was so happy and a great blessing to her parents and the whole family. We thank God over and over for giving her to us for awhile. I can relate to the joy Rick and their family have because of Bella. I, also, am praying for Bella. I hope she is out of the hosp.

Hope all goes well with Bella. May our country be blessed with people like Santorum who’s got a noble heart and moral vision for the American people. His leadership gives us some positive signs that he can be a potential candidate, a promising one to be our president. Best wishes for his success in the political arena. Mark Escobar

Rick Santorum’s daughter improving PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — Rick Santorum said Sunday night that his daughter Bella has experienced a “miraculous turnaround” since being diagnosed with pneumonia earlier in the weekend. On a telephone town hall for Florida voters, the former Pennsylvania senator said doctors predict that the three-year-old will be released from the hospital two to four days from now. “Life for the Santorum family has improved dramatically since this afternoon,” he said. “We’ve still got a long way to go, but she’s without a doubt turned a corner.” As he spoke about a “very hectic last 36 hours,” Santorum noted that his daughter was waking up in her hospital room. “She’s got a mask on because she needs help breathing, but she’s smiling through it,” Santorum said, relief evident in his voice. Santorum said it was a blessing that his daughter happened to fall ill during one of… Read more »

I love the comment he makes about learning unconditional love from her. I have a 2 year old who teaches me the same thing every day. He is very lucky to have that special little girl in his life and he knows it.

Saying a prayer for Bella and the family!

Sometimes when I get to thinking that the world is so screwed up that I wonder why God tolerates us any longer, a story like this comes along, and then I read the comments of all here and your loving and caring natures, and I realize that mankind isn’t the lost cause that I was thinking it was a moment before. I’m very proud to call all of you my friends. VG

“Sources told National Journal/CBS News that Bella, who was born with a severely disabling genetic disorder, was “improving” and was not on a ventilator.” Good news. I pray she continues to improve.

My brother-in-law has a condition that was supposed to result in his death before age 20. He is now in his 50s. The doctors don’t know nearly as much as they think.

I am glad Jesus didn’t “Just let us go” after the fall.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to Your protection, implored Your help, or sought Your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto You, O virgin of virgins, my Mother. To You I come, before You I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in Your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

I hope so too. I just read that his older kids will be his surrogates at the scheduled stops in Florida he was supposed to go to, and that he’d return as soon as he could.

I just read that she’s got pneumonia in both lungs but is not on O2, which is a good thing. See here:

Thanks for the link. I’m so happy that she’s improving. Interesting part of the article about how they’ve tried to keep Bella out of hospitals – Makes sense that the environment at home can be much more sterile than a hospital, and I understand Karen had 8 years experience as a neo-natal IC nurse.

Glad to see little Bella improving today, but I’m not surprised after everyone’s thoughts and prayers!

Thank you for the update and link Is_Sense!! I am glad too that she’s improving some. I’ll be still praying until she’s out of the hospital and smiling in her daddy’s arms again.

Here is her tweet, milady.

” Thank you Rick and Karen Santorum for living the Christ-like example of sacrifice and right priorities. Nothing is more precious or important than the life of an innocent child. Our prayers are with Bella, a perfect child in an imperfect world.
God Bless the beautiful Santorum family”

I love the way Sarah switches the common misconception of what denotes perfection. It’s not Bella that is imperfect (even though there are some who would have aborted her because she seemed imperfect). No, it’s the world she is in that is imperfect! So true…so true! Amen and Amen!

“Lo, children are a heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that has his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.” (Psalm 127:3-5 KJV) “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. For you shall go out with joy, and be led… Read more »

Prayers for Bella and her family. The love that surrounds this child speaks volumes about Senator Santorum and his wife and the family they’ve raised.

A father who welcomes all his children into this world. Such a contrast to the father who selects the children he wants, and considers some children a punishment.

I was thinking the same thing… I bet Rick & his wife never thought of Bella as a punishment, but a blessing.

It is quite the contrast in world view isn’t it? And people keep labeling Santorum as the radical. Upside down a bit eh?

Jesus said to bring the little children to Him; therefore, I have lifted Bella and her family in prayer knowing God’s love for her and them will bring them through this trial. I continue to pray for God’s blessing upon the Santorum family.

Like Santorum said herein, “It’s clear to me that we’re the disabled ones”.

Had such a child been born to Obama, he would have literally thrown the child into the closest sanitation bin, I’m sure, and then go off to play another round of golf. Worthless scum that he is!

Mary_Linda….We live in the land of the free, that’s a fact. But to say such a terrible thing about our President is appalling. Please read Philippians 4:8 & 9b:
“….whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, compelling, gracious, beautiful, the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly, things to praise, not things to curse. Put these things into practice and the God of peace will be with you.” (from ‘The Message’ and ‘The New American Standard’ Bibles.)

I don’t understand how this man is not the number one contender, a man of goodness and soundness of mind and chock full of good values – especially because he so far surpasses the worthless obama.

Prayers for Bella and all her family. May our Father intervene and bless, heal, deliver Bella…surround, strengthen and sustain this wonderful family. What a father; what a mother; what a family! What a witness! What a man of God, Rick Santorum is! Senator Santorum has said some stunning things during the debates and none that grabbed my heart, resonated with me more than his saying, (paraphrase, I don’t have the exact quote) “Our nation’s laws get their authority from God’s Word. They are right when/if they are congruent with God’s Word and Commandments.” Currently, we have laws that enable us to break all God’s Laws/Commandments and there are some being foisted on us that would force us to do so, to sin, and to violate our consciences. This is the reason we are failing and divided as a nation, failing economically, socially and politically…and why we have pagan Islamic hordes… Read more »
