In response to criticism by Mitch McConnell, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel explained exactly why the RNC censured Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger in an interview with Dana Loesch:

In short, McDaniel says it was because Cheney and Kinzinger went along with Pelosi despite McCarthy being disallowed from putting Republicans on the select committee. She says that’s never happened before and now the committee is targeting people who weren’t even in DC during the Capitol riot.
It’s exactly what we thought it was about. Cheney and Kinzinger are colluding with Democrats and their nakedly partisan agenda to hurt Republicans, all because they hate Trump.
I’m still waiting for McCarthy to keep his promise of disciplining Cheney for this exact same offense. But it doesn’t look like he’s got the gonads to do it.
