Roseanne Bar has just announced today that she is quitting Twitter, and it appears to be in response to a crapload of criticism she’s gotten over a bad joke she made on Twitter about Valerie Jarret.
Here’s the tweet (of course it’s been deleted) where she stepped in it:
Ouch. She immediately defended the tweet:
But that didn’t last very long. She later announced she was leaving Twitter and left an apology to Valerie Jarret:
I apologize. I am now leaving Twitter.

I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.

But apparently that wasn’t good enough for Wanda Sykes, Roseanne’s producer. She’s quitting the show:
I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC.

Of course, she’s looking a bit like a hypocrite to some. She just said this the other day about Trump:
It’s time to call a muthafucker, a muthafucker. And yeah, I’m talking about that muthafucker! #ImpeachTrump

I’m sure at some point Roseanne will be back on Twitter, but it’ll probably be a little while. Right now there are calls all over Twitter for ABC to cancel her new show, including from the likes of Al Sharpton. And I’m sure her mentions are full of them.
UPDATE:
ABC has just announced they are cancelling the Roseanne reboot:
BREAKING: ABC Entertainment president says the network has decided to cancel the 'Roseanne' reboot.
