This is really interesting. Marco Rubio says that he thinks Assad was encouraged to his gas attacks because of Tillerson’s statements about Syria.

What he’s saying is that Assad heard that the Trump administration was giving up on getting rid of him, and concluded that the best thing to do is to conclude the war as quickly as possible. Makes sense. But now it looks like the attacks have just emboldened Trump against Assad. Will he forget all about it in a week after tweeting more conspiracies?! Hmmm…
