Santorum: National media is trying to destroy conservatives

I never doubted that Santorum knew this, but I’m so glad to hear him say it. In his interview with Hannity they talk about the fake controversies in the media over Santorum’s comments, and Hannity points out that Obama just recently used the Bible to back up his ‘tax the rich’ policies, which he says could be questioning the faith of others who disagree. He then asked Santorum why there is a double standard in the media when it comes to Obama. Santorum responded:

Well, it’s perfectly clear. I mean, let’s be honest. This is standard fare. I mean I’m not saying anything particularly new here. I mean, what we’ve been talking about, the radical environmental agenda that puts the earth over the needs of man, that doesn’t understand that the best way to create a sound environment is for people to be doing well and to have prosperity. Because you go to countries where in fact mankind is not doing well and let me assure you, the last thing they worry about is the environment. It depends on America’s growth and prosperity so we can in fact be good, husband[ing] the environment as the way we should. And that’s all I was talking about.

And for them to continually distort – this is the kind of stuff that I think is, is actually I think one of the reasons we’re doing well in the polls, because people see it for what it is. They see the national media trying to destroy conservatives.

Nice. And he’s exactly right. I mean, look how many ‘controversies’ we’ve had in just a few days. At least 2 good ones, and that’s if you don’t count the ‘bayer aspirin’ and the ‘radical Islamic policies’ controversies. The media is in overdrive trying to knock the wind out of Santorum’s sails.

Here is the full interview from tonight:

  1. Good job Rick, after Newt you’ve got my vote! But I understand why you didn’t challenge Obama by NOT taking up the Mainstream Media’s challenge on Obama’s so called Christianity! It’s like this Obama NEVER WAS, NOR IS A CHRISTIAN,HE IS A MUSLIM !!! Just because he says he went to a Wacko psuedo Christian Church by Rev. Wright AND HELD A PHONY PRAYER MEETING does NOT JUSTIFY HIM, there have been many FALSE CHRISTIAN CHURCHES claiming to be Christians! Here’s the proofs against his Christianity 1). this whole abortion and contraception issue with the Catholic church which is an afront to us all 2).Obama has NO moral values,Satan is the FATHER OF LIES,OBAMA IS THE PRINCE OF LIES 3).A few years back he was to speak at a Christian College and demanded they take down all the crosses or he wouldn’t speak.4) Obama sucks up to Terrorists and Muslims while offending Christians 5).Christians are being martyred for their faith all thoughout the middle East and N.Africa and he NEVER mentions it and deals with them nor does anything!6)No Christian would initiate class warfare such as he has done 7).Most Christians recognize a certain brotherhood with the Jews but he has treated them abominably 8). The Bible says we shall know them by their fruit, and Obama’s fruit is rotten and EVIL. The point is a Christian may commit a few or some of these acts in rare cases but NO REAL Christian would do ALL OF THEM!! For more evidence go to http://www.ChristainAnti-DefamationCommission.com for 7 more proofs!

    1. Indeed they are. Wonder why the media doesn’t call ’em on that? Lol. Not only that, Obama is screwing up the message of religion, just like he’s screwing up the economy. According to Jesus, we were to use our own wealth to help the poor, I’m pretty sure Jesus didn’t tell his followers to send all your money to the government in the form of taxes so that government could create a welfare system that makes millions dependent on government largess. I could be wrong though, because unlike Obama, I didn’t go to a marxist preachin’ church for 20 years. God d*mn Amerika! Peace.

  2. Don’t like Santorum no matter what he says. Continually harping on social Conservatism instead of what is really important in this election is wearing thin.

Santorum is not Presidential material. He has no “presence” and he is too whiny!

Santorum is a political lightweight who will NEVER pull the Republican elite in line. They will marginalize him and eventually sabatoge any attempts Santorum makes at reform.

Santorum is the best gift the Democrats will ever have, next to Romney.

    1. It’s the liberal media that keeps pushing his social conservatism. George Stephanopolis started down that road when he insisted Romney et. al state their positions on contraception, back in January, at the ABC debate.

They are the ones with the hangups about all things sexual and along with that, it deflects from the real issues-the economy, jobs and what is going on in the Middle East.

Besides that, what’s wrong with stating that the family is the strongest unit and is the key to economic prosperity? I believe that, so, I guess, I’m a “social” as well as fiscal conservative. Better that than an entitlement seeking liberal moonbat.

  3. Newt did a great Town Hall at Oral Roberts University. There were over 4,000 young attendees and Newt was spot on the issues that count if we want to defeat O; check it out

    1. RS
Any chance of getting this video here, so we can use it to compare this candidate to the others running.

      Thank you.

    2. Sorry for second post, but I just watched this video and it was truly amazing & should be seen by all for comparison sake alone. His presentation, his blend of knowledge, humor, & direct talk was what the voters need to hear. It was not the pep rally format that most of the candidates have gone to from Obama, Paul, Santorum, Romney.

Newt Gingrich is not out of this race. While the other candidates, media, establishment, are arm wrestling over non-add issues, Newt is presenting his big ideas for solving the real issues of America.

I double dare the Santorum supporters to watch this speech.

      RS please bring it here.

  4. It is war. Literally, it is. Propaganda, financial, economic, Constitutional war.

I am tired of the games. People all need to see it. Let’s get it all out in the open and choose sides.

  5. A LITTLE-KNOWN FACT: The US TAXPAYER HELPED PAY FOR ROMNEYCARE IN Massachusetts –
    http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/on-the-record/index.html#/v/1458939619001/tommy-thompson-goes-on-the-record-part-1/?playlist_id=86925

With the Bain Bail-out, Wall Street Bail-outs, Salt Lake City Olympics Bail-out and other pork, earmarks, etc., Romney sure knows how to invade the Taxpayer’s wallets – while enriching himself and his friends handsomely.

Sounds like the perfect Washington DC politi-crook.

    1. It was the media holiday, and debate debacle when Newt suggested that we examine the shady components of Bain. He was put down, even the people on the conservative side attacked him for not believing in capitalism.

Now we find out he was right.

Warning: Do not believe all the spin.

  6. This was a great interview. Rick is acquitting himself very well and slapping this nonsense aside easily. He keeps getting better and better!

P.S. I seriously think Sean Hannity is in the tank for Rick. Santorum has been on his radio and T.V. show a lot lately. I think that’s a good thing! 🙂

  7. The media kept Palin from getting in the race and so far the media got Perry, Cain & Bachmann out of the race. They wounded Newt three times but so far but he’s hanging in there. Their focus of attack on Santorum is just getting warmed up.

I guess it wouldn’t be so bad if it was just coming from the left except, all along the way, they’ve had a whole lotta RINOs helping them destroy these good people.

I hoped for Palin but didn’t get what I hoped for so I’m sticking with Newt because he has a good economic plan, he knows how to articulate it and he’s a survivor … and that’s what I want from a candidate.

  8. We know darned well the president won’t approve the Keystone Pipeline or any domestic oil – is to favor his best Islamist buddies in the Middle East – who paid for his campaign – who own him. Then there are Obama’s other buddies Soros and Buffett and Hugo Chavez who benefit by Obama’s foreign oil preference. The Environmentalists were minor donors compared with these two groups.

  9. i said in another post….the bamster is no Christian he is a poser a hieratic and we must point this out or find our witness of the truth to be nothing… something to be mocked…you either stand for the truth or turn your back on it and walk away…i for one will STAND …if that means the Bamster and his brown shirts come after me…so be it….i know to whom i trust my soul to and its not the son of the Devil OBAMA but the one and only Son of God …”Jesus”

  10. Santorum must be doing something right in Texas at moment.

Santorum would get the votes of 45 percent of the respondents if the election were held today in Texas. — clustered well behind, Gingrich got 18 percent, Romney received 16 percent and Paul garnered 14 percent.

“Rick Santorum has cut through the clutter and emerged as not simply the non-Romney candidate, but as the most credible conservative candidate in the race,” said Daron Shaw, co-director of the UT/TT poll and a professor of government at the University of Texas at Austin. “He hasn’t totally clinched that, but Santorum has gone from a guy who couldn’t get two minutes in a debate to being a guy who looks like the front-runner — not just in Texas, but maybe nationally.”

Also in Oklahoma: Santorum 39%, Romney 23%, Gingrich 18%, Paul 8%, 13% undecided.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2012/02/20/santorum-crushing-the-field-in-texas/

    1. I think it’s better to ignore those sites. Let the Paulbots overrun the voting, then the site will do what Scoop did with his polling and they will get a better, more accurate vote count, minus the Paul tsunami.

    1. The only “poles” Paul wins is at the Bunny Ranch in Nevada.

The Nevada brothel, “Bunny Ranch”, is leading a campaign called “P i m p i n for Paul”, where male clients can donate money to the Paul Campaign.

  11. Exactly! State run ‘Big Government Liberal Media’ is not a myth, it’s real.

***The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.*** Verbal Kint — The Usual Suspects.

    1. You mean this one?

ARTICLE 124. In order to ensure to citizens freedom of conscience, the church in the U.S.S.R. is separated from the state, and the school from the church. Freedom of religious worship and freedom of antireligious propaganda is recognized for all citizens.

        1. Oh I understand it. You obviously don’t:

          Libertarianism: Marxism of the Right
          http://www.theamericanconservative.com/article/2005/mar/14/00017/

          During the 2007 campaign, Paul had connections with Sandy Sheehan’s Congressional campaign, Howard Dean’s “Democracy for America”, and “The Barnes Review” which is a Holocaust-denier magazine founded by Willis Carto. He also was given in 08 a $500 donation from w h i t e s u p r e m a c i s t Stormfront . org founder Don B l a c k which Paul supporters shrugged off as nothing peculiar.

Breitbat . tv also reports that OCCUPY DESMOINES supports Paul! And why shouldn’t they, occupiers are associated with the American n a z i Party, the Communist Party USA and of course anarchists, who share many of Paul’s values.

              1. Wow… you in your infinite (not) wisdom disagree with years of Supreme Court precedent. The government shall not establish… Too bad they did not have you to consult with. On the other hand, they would have thought you were an idiot

                1. Where is Santorum suggesting that the CONGRESS (not the government) establish a religion? But then, you idiots have utterly misrepresented the founding father’s intent for the establishment clause anyway!

                2. what? that makes no sense. Neither congress not the president (which Santorum will never be) can “establish” a national religion

          1. SOME OF RON PAUL’s early videos are scary. His libertarianism is also a form of libertine-ism or hedonism. “Do what you want, just pay for it yourself.”

His position on legalizing sex-trafficking and drugs is detrimental to society.

When the Hezbollah-rabid drug cartels are invading our country – we do not need to stop the war on drugs. We don’t need to give these people carte blanche on our city streets and with our children.

BUT we also do not need to pretend to fight the war on drugs, like several past administrations have done or to leave the borders open and refuse to effectively fight against these cartels like our current administration is doing.

[Note – Rumors among ex-military and intelligence is that evil men in high places are profiting hugely from drugs and that law and government have been infiltrated by foreign anti-american insurgents and that the wars in the Middle East have been as much about money from drugs as much as about oil…certainly not as much about freedom and democracy…or good and evil, right and wrong or the good of our country or any other.]

Then there are the economic and societal cost of stopping the war on drugs and sex-trafficking – the treatment of AIDS and STDs and the cost of drug and alcohol and sex addiction, mental health treatment for them as well – which only the 1% can afford to pay their own or their child’s treatment.

Competition from warring drug cartels turns a nation into a barbaric and dangerous place.

If Ron Paul were elected there would be no law and order….things would not be any better than in Obamaland.

      1. If you deported all the liberals, all you would have is guns and religion. All intelligent money makers are liberal. Sorry. Just look at Silicon Valley big supporters of Rond Paul. You would be China’s b boy

          1. Nice. Name calling. You don’t know me at all. i care for this country. Which is why I am delighted that Santorum is slipping in the polls due to his theology comments. Who is on deck next as the next anti romney? Guess we’ll have to go outside the pack to Jeb Bush and co.

  12. Wow, the opposition really like to beat a dead horse about Santorum’s negatives , so called…

“He’s too honest sometimes about his faith and social issues”

    “cherry pick bad votes ”

Hope he wipes out Romney in the coming weeks so we can get this race going about Obama.

Santorum is more captivating when he’s discussing what’s wrong with Obama, the Left, and talking about America. Rather than trying to defend himself because he’s too honest about his beliefs and isn’t afraid to be UnPC about the issues.

Santorum’s townhalls are very good. Good to see Santorum isn’t going to change his tune.

  13. ROFL , If Obama was really a Christian , the press wouldn’t have to be worried about defending Obama’s sincerity of faith.

They’d be busy ATTEMPTING to BEAT HIM UP Like RICK SANTORUM.

  14. Starting at the 3:30 mark in the second clip is the best part of this interview for me. Where Rick talks about the role of faith and public life, mentioning James Madison, referring to the 1st amendment where all faiths and no faith are allowed in the public square to voice their opinions. lol plus nice little jab at Romney SCRIPTING his town-hall meetings.

    1. I caught the jab too and got a good chuckle out of it. Is it just me or has anyone else seen Mitt? It’s like a Where’s Waldo? puzzle. I’ve seen Rick everywhere but nothing out of Mitt. Maybe Mitt figures he is as gaffe-tastic as Uncle Joe and thinks it helps to hide away?

      1. Karl Rove and the GOP establishment had to fix him and replace his FLUX CAPACITOR, after he malfunctioned in Detroit talking about Trees being the RIGHT HEIGHT.

    1. I’ve seen the video as well, and rather than pass judgment, I’d have to know more specifics as to what his concerns are. The video I watched was spliced to death to fit a “Ron Paul agenda”.

When he questions the Conservatism of Tea Party members, I’d like to know why. What reservations does he have? I have some as well.

        1. Exactly, and Libertarianism should very definitely be questioned–it is essentially materialism/naturalism. Ron Paul actually has a more pro-life stance than the vast majority of libertarians. Here’s the Libertarian Party plank on abortion:

          1.4 Abortion

Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.

        2. Ron Paul’s answer about social issues being state level oriented is an example of their cluelessness.

Levin pointed out, ‘yeah what happens when teh Federal Government imposes their values on the states? what happens when prop 8.

So Rick Santorum and other conservatives are supposed to not defend themselves and call it out?

      1. He didn’t question the conservatism of Tea Party. He said that there is a movment in BOTH THE REPUBLICAN party AND Tea Party Movement….

        Levin knows Ron Paul’s number.

  15. Thanks for posting for us. I think it was something that had to be said. It is what it is.

However, extreme environmentalism is NOT a social issue. So, I don’t agree about how that should be dropped.

  16. I realize that liberalism is a mental disorder, and liberals spend most of their time out in left field, but I still fail to see how you can link Santorum’s use of the word “theology” to a question of Obama’s faith. Reason just doesn’t permit it.

    1. I actually thought Rick was soft on the real answer that should have been given. This is in response to all the talk shows he was on. He needs to flat out say that environmentalism is the religion of the left. Period. I know Rick “means” that when he talks about the Earth is more important than the people according to liberals, but he needs to be blunt and draw the bold contrasts with few words. Environmentalism is a religion and is treated as a religion by the left. Global Warming was taken on faith and not science. Wind turbines were taken on faith and not science (and now they kill endangered eagles by the thousands). Electric and hybrid cars are saving the planet because of their faith in the environmentalist movement, even though the science is obvious that a lot of carbon dioxide emitting coal fire burning power plants are used to create the electricity to charge the frickin cars to begin with.

The left has no science to back up their environmentalism, so they cling to it like faith. Tell THAT to the media, Rick! Just like Muslims put Islam over patriotism, Obama puts environmentalism over his Christianity (giving him the benefit of the doubt).

Wait, didn’t I say Rick had to be brief? Just say this, Rick: “Environmentalism is the religion of the left”.

        1. You are on the right track but imo, their religion is Secular Humanism in which man is god. Man has control over all things, man creates, man can fix anything including the environment. The creation of all things before man came along was an accident, the big bang theory and everything after that was mutation, evolution.

Environmentalism is a doctrine of their religion based on their belief that they can fix anything. But no sooner do they succeed in reducing the little bit of carbon dioxide we create, a volcano erupts and spews billions of times more CO2 into the atmosphere.

Evolution is just another doctrine. They need evolution to explain how we got here without a higher power. They believe that man has evolved into the higher power and that man is the master of his own universe.

Abortion and euthanasia come from the same doctrine. I don’t know if they have a name for it yet but I’ll call it the Useful Life doctrine. They get to decide when life begins and at what point it actually becomes useful to society as well as when it becomes no longer useful to society. Under this doctrine, abortion will advance to infanticide in order to rid the world of children who will never be useful (in their minds) to society. We are already seeing a trend toward ending the life of those who may never recover from a coma for instance. And we all know that Sarah Palin is right about the Death Panels. It is central to the Useful Life Doctrine.

Because there is no supreme being in their religion, all laws derived from God are meaningless because God, to them, does not exist. He is a fantasy that we cling to for comfort. They mock us for still believing in God as though we were still believing in Santa Clause.

We are in a spiritual battle as well as a battle for the survival of our country. They go hand in hand. We will not win one without the other.

          1. If Environmentalism and Evolution are the great and powerful force in the cosmos, why do the human species have to forgo its evolutionary advancement because of a snail darter, or any other organism for that matter?

How does one kind of being, hinder itself from its advancement fit into the Survival of the Fittest Theology?

In the normal chain of events, shouldn’t a being with intelligence realize that its destructive nature of building nuclear, gas and coal fired generators, dams, roads and bridges are just part of its Evolution and if its actions destroy the planet it is only following its evolutionary brain stamped path.

      1. Say it like this “” Environmnetalism is their religion with Earth, their god and Al Gore as his Prophet”

Amazingly, it sounds and reads like something I’ve heard before….oh, that’s right, that’s the same expression the muzzies use.

  17. Call me old fashioned, but I honestly believe that if you have no faith and no belief in God, then you truly do not “understand” America. People without faith think America’s liberty is the same as European democracy. They’re both free – right? They both hold free elections – right?

Like Rick says, the Constitution is our “how” and the Declaration of Independence is our “why”. You cannot understand the “why” (or “purpose”) of America without understanding faith in our Creator. We are a Christian nation with a secular government. That is America. America is not secular because unlike European countries, America is not defined by our government.

By the way, “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek is a great book. It is based on knowing your why for business so it is not actually relevant here, but thought I’d mention it.

    1. “I honestly believe that if you have no faith and no belief in God, then you truly do not “understand” America.”

It’s to bad you feel that way, couldn’t be further from the truth. I know a lot of atheist that absolutely love this country and hate the path that it’s heading down….. I happen to be one of them. 🙂

  18. Santorum is exactly right when he said, “People see it for what it is.” I for one, and I know others as well who are getting fed up with the media and their double standard. I’m becoming more and more impressed with Santorum everyday. He isn’t wishy washy, he speaks for me.

  19. Darn I wish i could like him, because it seems a lot of my online friends are turning to him…but he just isn’t doing it for me…maybe if Newt drops out I can accept him

(Though I’m at the point of wanting a brokered convention with Ryan, West, or Rubio as the nominee)

    1. Well, friend, there’s nothing wrong with that. Choose according to your conscience. That’s what’s most important.

Besides, Newt is better than Obamney.

    2. We can dream and scream for Ryan, West, or Rubio… 🙂

I’ve been for Santorum for months (after Bachman dropped out). Check out his site and see what economic, foreign policy, illegal immigration, etc. plans he lays out. He’s much more than a sweater vest. 🙂

P.S. Newt is a very close number 2 in my book.

  20. You know it wouldn’t hurt if the interviewers on the right would quit doing the same thing the left is doing by asking the same stupid questions. They’re helping to keep this stupid zealot meme going. Don’t get me wrong I love Santorums outspokeness on his faith but the right isn’t helping by keeping the harping going.

    1. Imo, I don’t think Hannity is doing that. He’s actually helping Rick get the chance to tell the people unedited and unabated. Although he is a closet Romney supporter, he gives all the candidates equal time whether on radio or tv.

      1. I agree to a certain extent. But we really need to get past this. They need to let him expound on the other issues that are front and center as well. I’m in total agreement with Jasper though, don’t let the enviromentalism garbage go. Right now with gas prices the way they’re going I’d hammer that nail hard.
