Sarah Palin rips Rick Santorum over comments

**UPDATE: Santorum responds**

Well I think she does anyway. She starts out like she’s blowing it off, then BAM!

“I think the reports were much worse than what he really said. I think some things were really taken out of context. So I will not call him the knuckle dragging neanderthal that perhaps others would want to call him. I’ll let his wife call him that instead.”

I left the rest of the interview on the clip as she talks Egypt and hits the Obama Administration for not rejecting the Muslim Brotherhood out right, but instead giving them a seat at the table.

***

UPDATE: Santorum responds on Greta after she plays Sarah’s response on Hannity. I think it’s pretty classy and it fits with exactly what I thought he meant last night. He meant no ill-will.

Now it looks to me like Sarah went a little overboard in her response. Politico is getting a lot of mileage out of this as they have already written another story on it and it keeps going for another news cycle or two. I think Sarah should have just dismissed it recognizing that he meant no harm.

  1. Love them both. They agree on everything. Just call each other on the damn phone and clear it up that way. Kinda like adults. I think Rick deserved the benefit of the doubt. Sarah, I love ya. Stop playing the victim card.

  2. Didn’t waste my time on the videos because the whole thing is stupid, but I sure have enjoyed the comments!

  3. Didn’t waste my time on the videos because the whole thing is stupid, but I sure have enjoyed the comments!

  4. Santorum is a scumbag …. he’s a total fraud , part of the good ol boy’s club in DEE CEE …. nobody likes the guy and why does the media give him any coverage anyway ?

  5. For those with short (or drug-impaired, like a d-crat socialist) memories: When santorum was a Senator, he was considered by most to be “The Dumbest Member of the Senate” – even beating CA’s babs boxer for that distinguished title !! Obviously, the guy hasn’t changed.

  6. Excuse me redskeptic, but NO, Palin did not agree with close to everything about John McCain, including the way he handled his campaign. whatever gave you that impression? I doubt in the history of the presidency has there ever been a president -vice president combo that were in harmonious agreement on all policy. But suddenly you claim Sarah Palin was. Do you lack simple reasoning ability? Get a frickn clue. On top of that, now that McCain is back to being a senator he is back to his flip-flopping ways. Don’t be putting Sarah in his shoes. It’s not even close

    1. Standing up for someone shows support-there really is no other way to look at it! Maybe not total agreement but enough support to say hey-I want to help you get where you want to go-so now go figure-why would she want McCain in office-she can’t possibly agree with him for the most part-or maybe she is not as far right as you think-or maybe she is more like him than you care to ponder-who’s to say? One’s actions tend to speak louder than words!

  7. I think some people have too much time on their hands if they thought Sarah was serious. The comments at the politico page are hilarious. The PDS is strong over there.

    1. She handled it perfectly with a joke and a smile.

She also redirect the discussion to what the GOP’s focus should be on: the economy and jobs!!

      Watch the video!!

  8. Do any of you Palin fans remember the fact that she went along with all of McCain’s ideas during the Presidential Campaign? Has been that long ago. Does anyone remember her going along with his global warmning and cap and trade ideas? She not only endorsed him in his recent run for the Senate, but went to Arizona to campaign for him. Do you think the fact that he won, the fact that he is in the Senate helps the Country or the consesrvative cause?

The people who are in love with her seem to feel she is a “true conservative” and
anyone opposed to her is a RINO. Frankly, I don’t see her as being as conservative as all her fans.

When Bush 43 ran for President I was opposed to him during the primaries assuming him to be just like his father. The more he was attacked the more I defended him until by the time the general election rolled around I was firmly in his camp. Well you can see how that turned out. We continue to pay for the damage to the country caused by the Bush Presidency.

Those of you on the Palin bandwagon should be careful as to what you wish for.

    1. As a Palin supporter I can tell you that her support for McCain doesn’t bother me that much. And if you’ve read any of my comments here you would know that I loath McCain. Loath doesn’t even cover it. Despise? Hate? There isn’t a pejorative that I could use for McCain that would begin to explain the depths of my hatred for that man.

Contrary to what Palin detractors think, including many conservative bloggers, we Palin supporters are not suffering from puppy love when it comes to Palin. We’re not blindly loyal “fans”. We’re not suffering from some Alex Forrest like obsession that’s gonna result in rabbit stew the first time she disappoints us.

Sarah Palin is a politician. She’s not the Second Coming in a dress. She’s not Joan of Arc on a mission from God. She’s a politician and a good one. When it comes to McCain I sincerely believe that Palin admires the man for his military service. She is certainly not alone. I don’t think he deserves such admiration, but my opinion is in the distinct minority. Do I wish she hadn’t campaigned for him? Of course I do. But I know why she did it.

Beyond her admiration for McCain, which I believe is genuine, Palin owed McCain politically. You know, you can beat your head against the wall decrying those kinds of political games, but it’s how the system works and Palin knows that. I think she also knows that he will not return the favor when/if she runs for president. She will never say anything against McCain first.

BUT, they’re even now and when he goes after her (if she runs) then she is free and clear to go after him if she chooses. That’s politics.

    2. Excuse me redskeptic, but NO, Palin did not agree with close to everything about John McCain, including the way he handled his campaign. whatever gave you that impression? I doubt in the history of the presidency has there ever been a president ,vice president that were in harmonious agreement on all policy. But suddenly you claim Sarah Palin was. Get a frickn clue. On top of that, now that McCain is back to being a senator he is back to his flipflopping ways. Don’t be putting Sarah in his shoes.

  9. Given Rick’s comments on Greta’s show, it appears that Politico is the real villain in this “tempest”.

  10. Great example of how conservatives are Palin’s biggest problem.

Rick Santorum has no chance of winning the Republican nomination. But that doesn’t mean he’s not angling for a position in the administration of whoever does win. He’s taking a calculating guess that it won’t be Palin so he’s helping out whoever else it might be by using her motherhood as a weapon in the “presidential material” game. How can the mother of all those kids be president when she doesn’t have time to go to a lil’ ol’ conference? And let’s throw in the greed angle, too, while we’re at it.

Of course Palin has to knock down that kind of meme. Nip it in the bud. That’s not being defensive. That’s going on the offense and it’s smart. Except for those people who pick on any nit when it comes to Palin. Even if he didn’t say it for political purposes, her “knuckle dragging Neanderthal” was spot on. The man has 7 kids and says that about Palin? Yeah, that’s pretty Neanderthal thinking.

But now conservative bloggers will spend untold brain cells gnashing all about how Palin is not only a bad mother, but thin skinned as well. I can’t wait until the next Republican 2012 candidate opens his mouth about Palin. They’re going to do everything they can to make their prediction that she can’t win the general come true. And just like with Tuscon, every response she makes will feed another knock on her.

  11. Sarah has been like this with all her critics, acting overly defensive when it may just be a misunderstanding, or maybe a criticism to use constructively.

Some people like this–the Sarah fans who love her no matter what. I think it’s a turn off. She needs to think more before she acts. She wouldn’t be as interesting to watch then, but she’s not trying to be a reality star, she wants to be president.

    1. Wow, good move! You’ve got the Palin criticism rules down pat. Knock Plain and make sure to insult her supporters so that any response they make is just her blindly loyal ignorant fan base reacting with blindly loyal love.

Palin handled this just fine. What did you think about her answer about Egypt? Or were you too busy writing this post in your head to hear that part of the interview?

      1. You know what, maybe you’re right. I like Palin. I think she’s a closet libertarian. Hell, she seems more for marijuana legalization than Obama does.

Thinking more about it, maybe I am a little sexist and need to work on that. Looking at my views, I believe I do hold women to a different standard. She’s a perfectly good presidential candidate. I’d be glad to have her in the oval office. I didn’t even see her answer about Egypt, but I’m sure she did just fine.

  12. This Santorium and Palin thing clearly were the works of nasty journalism hoping to dive wedges into the two,to create some sensations.Santorium make harmless comments,in fact favour Palin and tried to justify on her behalf with graciousness for not attending CPAC but that journalist wittily throw in some smokes, lit some fires.

  14. Santorum should have said, “I haven’t spoken to her, you would need to ask her” AND THEN dropped it.

For someone who is married, Santorum is a duntz with women. You NEVER make excuses for a woman by citing sterotypical feminine things, like raising a family, etc. By the end of high school you should know that making excuses for a woman is just a no win situation.

As for Palin, she is beginning to show how thin skinned she is. If she had laid low after Arizona when the left’s narrative was fizzling and polling data had her in the clear she would have been better off. But, she released that video and lost ground with the very people she has to win over, independents.

This latest frakus is another sign she is thin skinned. There was no need for her to say that. Santorum is not a Democrat. Palin was acting like a typical feminist B!t*. That’s the sort of thing a Sally Quinn would say.

Both sides loose points on this one, but Palin lost more IMHO. And yes, I’m a Palin supporter. But she is dead even with Cain and Pawlenty on my radar right now.

    1. Did you see the video?

She was only joking and handled it perfectly with a joke and a smile.

She also redirected the discussion to what the GOP’s focus should be on: the economy and jobs!!

About the video after Arizona shooting:

  15. Any time a person openly speculates about the motivations of another person, they’re opening themselves up for making unnecessary unforced errors.

Rather than wondering aloud why Palin isn’t going, the correct response would have been to say, “Palin’s said why she isn’t going and I’ll accept her reasoning on face value.”

Palin’s response was funny…but it was also a gentle warning to a certain wing of the GOP that if they do these kinds of things, the Grizzly has fangs.

btw… I sense no malice from Santorum and I actually kind of like the guy… but he came off looking like he was whipped. lol

  16. Santorum is a class act and so is Sarah. I think Sarah may have gotten sucked into the lefts spin game and believed that Santorum was being Snarky when in fact he wasn’t.

Great work Mr. RightScoop, thanks for spreading the truth. I am your ally and we can turn things around for real in 2012. Keep up the good fight! C U soon, peace.

    1. OOPs! I just watched Santorum with SE Cupp and he did give off the vibe of being a wise ass….lol! I stand corrected. Sarah you responded fairly but maybe could have played the high road on this one. I can’t look down on Sarah for responding the way she did though. She should stand up for herself as she see’s fit. I support her no matter what she does.

  17. OK. I found it on Politico (added them to my higher fave list) and see that he not only “inadvertently” knocked her up one side and down the other ($$, kids). He also knocked her out of the running (he wishes!) by saying Well, I don’t live in Alaska. So, that disqualifies her from consideration? Has he heard of airplanes, electronic media, twitter, facebook, Fox News broadcasting from up there, Palin’s dispatch of the culture of corruption in old timey Alaskan politics (apparently still entrenched)?? What a twerp! but!! I like him. He seems to be a nice Italian boy from a nice family, just so very entrenched as a — and I haven’t said this since the 1960’s before I changed sides, AN MCP (male chauvinist pig). Well not pig. But — sheesh!! what an attitude.

      1. Yes, Scoop, saw it later on your site. Thank you.

I have a strong reaction to his attitude of male superiority which to my mind borders on abuse. This is something that’s accepted in our society but still Sarah needed to confront it because it’s really not OK. I thought Sarah was very gracious about it.

      3. OK. Dear Scoop, After reviewing this and many of the comments, plus the SE Cupp interview, I can see where this Andy Somebody from Politico was trolling around to make a story. Still, once it was out there, it actually is a story.

I was surprised to observe Rick’s attitude, which he denies and says he didn’t mean anything. OK. Prevalent in our society. There’s a certain amount of acceptance that has to happen as we confront this issue at times as well just so we can get along with the opposite sex. Yes, we have to let things go.

I still stand by Sarah. Pick your times, I say. I think this was one time that she needed to stand up to him/it even though he didn’t “mean” anything, as he says.

My own father used to tease me to tears, all in good “fun.” Right? This is called hostile humor and is a form of abuse, even though my father loved me and would “never do anything to hurt me.”

Hope I am making myself clear on this. There’s a time to draw the line. That’s all.

  18. Don’t like Santorum much cause of 2 bad judges he put forward for the federal bench but I think we are seeing a side of Palin that’s just nasty. Santorum sure struck a nerve.

  19. Baloney… Rick spoke correctly when he said he did not know why but then, as politicians usually do, could not shut up, he just had to continue talking and then went a little further out from shore and got caught in a squall.
He DID make a sexist remark, whether he intended to or not, re the mother with kids comment and he DID remark that she was probably doing something to make some money rather than attend.
Sarah Palin has never bad mouthed anyone on the Republican side unless they have already made some crack about her… so, anyone who is upset that the Mama Grizzly cuffed the cub, too friggin bad. Next time, Rick will re-consider talking about Palin unless he actually knows what he is talking about.

    1. Right… which is why he should have stuck with “I don’t know. You’ll have to ask her” rather than blather on about what he believes her motivations may or may not be.

  20. Dear Scoop,

I do love your site but!! can’t agree with you here. #1 Why do we not get to see what he said? that she is responding to.

#2 I hope you stand corrected. Demeaning is as demeaning does.

    1. I agree. Don’t know why Right Scoop thinks his comments were so harmless. The GOP boys can’t figure out how to attack her, so they figure they’ll go after her being a mother and try to make her sound greedy. Explain to me how that is harmless. He repeated the financial business comment three times in about 40 seconds in his interview with Cupp. “All those kids…” What a loser. He sounded even slimier in his response to Greta tonight.

      1. He got caught with his pants down, or in the schoolyard vernacular, Sarah pantsed him. Yay! girls. Score.

      2. How does that even make sense? Since when did conservatives start using liberal arguments against republicans?

There’s a major disconnect here that no on is admitting. One has to accept the liberal philosophy to find what he said insulting.

She is a business woman now if she had been the Governor still he probably would have said she was busy being a Governor and couldn’t attend.

Who in the conservative movement is going to say, “oh that dirty Sarah out there making money, who does she think she is? What a greedy capitalist!”

Is it not possible that Santorum because he has 7 children of his own understands how difficult it is to be everywhere at once with so many family obligations?

Why would a conservative use something like a mother raising her children as an insult? Isn’t that part of the bedrock of conservatism? If we’re going to go all in liberal philosophy then perhaps what he meant was she should have had an abortion then she would have had more time for CPAC.

Lastly this entire argument was spurred on by an actual Palin hater, someone who has actually in no uncertain terms smeared Sarah, Andy Barr. Divide and conquer.

        http://thespeechatimeforchoosing.wordpress.com/2011/01/30/politicos-andy-barr-caught-red-handed-making-things-up-about-sarah-palin

  21. Oh really? Like it’s just fine for a man to diminish a woman’s political role because she’s a mother and neglect his own kids in the process.

    Jack ass.

  22. Message for Rick ” knuckle dragging neanderthal ” Satorum : DO NOT MESS WITH THE MAMMA GRIZZLY….

  23. Message for Rick ” knuckle dragging neanderthal ” Satorum : DO NOT MESS WITH THE MAMMA GRIZZLY….

  24. Rick Santorum is a POMPOUS JERK, and an establishment wh*re. He was clearly taking a swipe at Palin, and insulting women at the same time. I’m not sure why Santorum even gets face time. What’s his claim to fame again? Greta. needs to lose this loser.

      1. I’m from PA too. You are right about him being a good man and serving us well. I was really sorry to lose him. To understand the definition of POMPOUS JERK take a look his ‘replacement’, aka Sen. Casey.

The democrats absolutely love the bickering – which is all it is between these two. They would support each other in a heart beat if needed.

  25. Seems like The Right Scoop is going out of their way to defend Santorum. Hmmm Not going to check this site as often as I used to.

    1. Should we just believe what ever Politico prints? Especially from this guy?

      http://thespeechatimeforchoosing.wordpress.com/2011/01/30/politicos-andy-barr-caught-red-handed-making-things-up-about-sarah-palin/

The Tea Party is constantly being attacked because of their us of ‘code words.’ Now we’re accepting ‘code words’ as a viable argument?

I’m not a fan of Rick Santorum per say but boy did everyone jump when Politico said to; that’s the most disturbing part of this.

      1. To tell you the truth I never read Politico. I saw the SE Cupp show live. My first response was, boy that was condescending/sexist. My own opinion. I heard certain Conservative/Independant radio personalities affirming my opinion. Then I read Twiiter ‘tweets’. Now nothing against this site and yes I’ll probably still check this site…just through a different lense.

        1. Fellas, it is OK to disagree on stuff like this from time to time. No big deal. Most of us have the same goal long term, defeat Obama and the RINOS. I know who I support. This is a great site. Little disagreements in how we interpret comments made by someone should not deter anyone.

        2. I dislike RINO’s as much as the next conservative but if that’s what you heard and how you took it fair enough. I thought he just sounded jealous myself.

    2. Seems to me you have Sarah Palin on a pedestal…where she can say and do no wrong…I am certain she would want people around her that “help” her and not just say “yes” to her…it IS ok to constructively criticize…sometimes she would do better not acknowledging every negative comment.

      1. The operative word you use is EVERY. Sarah Palin does not respond to every negative comment by a long shot. If she did then we would not see all the positive policy positions she has for getting our country back to the vision Ronald Ragan had and did for our country. Look at all of her often repeated positions on domestic and international issues. She has spoken to all of them. Plus she has an incredible record of public record of service and leadership.

        1. I’m sorry, through facebook, twitter and tv…she does address every little thing that the press blows up.

As far as her positions on domestic and international issues she has offered very little substance just general talking points.

She does not have an incredible record of public service-I think she has a questionable record-I think she has tried her hands at politics but seems to have bounced around when things didn’t go the way she thought. I credit her for some of the decisions she did make while in office but that doesn’t mean she is good for the office of Presidency.

I have read her history about her as well and it is my thoughts that this is NOT the time for her…she is young and though may intend good things for America I think her depth of experience is lacking, and she should go back and get seasoned in politics first.

    3. So, is that supposed to be some kind of big deal – you won’t be checking out this site?

Do you really think anyone cares what you do or don’t do?

OMG jhs is NOT coming back to this site, Oh Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! Boo Hoooooooooooooooo!!!!

      Bwahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Take your little toy and run home.

  29. Our LEADER and Next President of USA, Sarah Palin, is CORRECT….Rick Santorum is an EMBARRASSMENT to American politics….

  30. Our LEADER and Next President of USA, Sarah Palin, is CORRECT….Rick Santorum is an EMBARRASSMENT to American politics….

  31. How much should she overlook? Whether he meant harm or not, it bordered on disrespectful. Would he have made the same comments about another man? Sometime younhave to demand respect.

  32. This is Sarah Palin giving us a hint of the “Sarah Barracuda” that will be in full display down the road.
And, Sarah comes right out and takes on the Muslim Brotherhood and Sharia law. She does not mince words and it is plain as day. If Sarah is President there will be no Sharia law in the US and there will be a take down of the Muslim Brotherhood.
I can not wait for the Mama Grizzly to cuff the “boys” out of the way to get to Obama.

  33. How demeaning to say in a friendly voice a woman , ‘mother to all these kids’ too busy to attend a conference, yet him with more kids, never has to worry about it because the mom of his kids takes care of all that for him, while he’s out and about doing whatever he wants.

    1. Actually, to be fair, Santorum said that if CPAC was held in Anchorage he wouldn’t go. In this sense, he could understand Palin not attending.

In a more general point, I think people have to be cognizant that this entire “controversy” has been fabricated by Politico. This is what they wanted – arguing amongst conservatives about a non-issue.

Don’t let the media manipulate you.

  34. Keep effing with the GOP, Sarah. Dems want YOU in the driver seat of the Republican party (going the wrong way on a one-way street, 4 flat tires, leaving a trail of blue oil smoke in your wake)

    1. Is this the college-boy Mickey or some other??

I’m not sure what your point is – but I kinda don’t like my gut reaction to what you said. If I’m (my gut) wrong, let me know, please.

  35. Well, if this was a test balloon by Republicans as to whether or not it’s going to go over well attacking Sarah I think the answer is no.

Republicans might want to warm up a little before attacking Sarah perhaps on an easy target like Obama. Sarah’s been fighting the smear battle successfully for the last 2 years.

Personally I still think this was all media driven by Politico.

  36. This is Sarah’s way of telling the GOP elites that she will not be F’ed with during a primary and if they try it, she is going to go at them with both barrels. (OMG VIOLENT RHETORIC lol)

Hey GOP “men,” She is going to burn your whole playhouse down. Your back room deals, done. Your lobbyist influence, over. Your cowardice, no longer tolerated. Your desire to be loved by the media, not interested. Your total failure to lead this country effectively, step aside for someone who can.

  37. He was just on Greta and like a typical GOP boy, he didn’t own up to his comment.

She did take a well deserved swipe at him. It was fun to watch.

  38. Nice one, classy shot across the boughs to warn off others thinking of doing the same over the next few months.

Santorum deserved it. He was a knucklehead regardless of whether his little dig was intentional or unintentional.

      1. Wow you are reading so much more into this…Sarah should have not said anything…it would have said so much more-besides her interview with CBN told me more about why she isn’t headed to CPAC then this nonsense back and forth.

      2. Sorry Scoop… Sorry Frank… this is a total non-story. It’s absolutely mind blowing how the pettiness of the Progressive mind has infected all corners of the culture. Palin answered well….Santorum answered well. What the heck part of NO do people not get? Palin was thrown a curve about “all those kids”, but Santorum admits to responsibilities with his seven kids. But they both reiterate the obvious… it’s not a problem. But Noooo! That just ain’t goodnuff. If they say yes, they mean no… if they say no, they mean yes… maybe there’s more behind this… maybe Santorum hates Palin ’cause she’ll run… maybe Palin’s hatin’ Santorum ’cause he’ll run… maybe Santorum’s just a big ol’ sexists and can’t stand women in the work place… maybe Palin’s got a hate on for washed up Senators. Every hiccup is worked to death and the dumb old conservatives fall for it every time.
