Sarah Palin says DeSantis should NOT run for president in 2024

Sarah Palin is telling Governor DeSantis not to run for president in 2024, saying he should stay governor “a little longer”.

Palin told Newsmax that she does envision DeSanis “as our president someday, but not right now,” according to DC Examiner.

Watch:

Palin said: “DeSantis doesn’t need to [run]. I envision him as our president someday, but not right now. Everybody I speak with in Florida loves him. And he does set the tone for, I’d say, every other governor in the nation. I think he’s our best governor. And he should stay governor for a bit longer.”

Palin’s support is firmly behind Trump, so her advice to DeSantis isn’t all that objective.

Plus, according to Newsweek, Palin hinted at wanting to be Trump’s running mate:

Sarah Palin on Tuesday seemingly hinted that she would like to be former President Donald Trump’s running mate in 2024.

Palin, who was John McCain’s running mate during his failed White House bid in 2008, described what she felt would be the qualities of an ideal candidate for Trump’s vice presidential candidate during an appearance on the Newsmax program The Balance.

“Trump needs to choose somebody who, like him, has nothing to lose. What more can they do to that person personally or verbal attacks or anything else on family?” she said. “That person has been through the wringer, so they know what they’re getting into. And that person then can just focus on doing what’s right for the people.”

When Newsmax host Eric Bolling asked if she was just describing herself, Palin answered while laughing: “Not necessarily.”

Matt Walsh responded to Sarah Palin’s advice to DeSantis by saying “DeSantis should really take this advice seriously from someone who hasn’t won a race in like 17 years.”

DC Examiner has also reported that DeSantis may have already decided he is running:

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is inching closer to launching a White House bid for 2024, with the Florida governor reportedly eyeing an announcement in late May or early June.

Although DeSantis has not announced whether he intends to seek the GOP presidential nomination, several Republican advisers close to the governor say he has already made up his mind on the matter. However, an announcement is not expected to come until after the Sunshine State concludes its legislative session in late May.

“I think his mind is pretty much made up at this point,” a GOP operative told the Hill. “My read on it is: Let’s get through [the legislative] session, get some stuff done, and see where things stand. But unless something changes drastically between now and then, I’d say he’s a go.”

Advisers for DeSantis have already begun the hiring process to beef up his campaign team, with some of the governor’s advisers laying the groundwork for a national campaign, the outlet reported. However, it’s still unclear when he may make the final announcement — with some GOP operatives pushing him to make the move sooner rather than later.

Whether he’s running or not, I doubt very seriously that DeSantis would ever take advice from someone like Palin, who is clearly doing Trump’s bidding on Newsmax.
