While Democrats and leftist organizations are declaring Trump’s national emergency to be blatantly illegal, Senator Mike Lee tweeted a few minutes ago that his initial assessment of Trump’s proclamation is that it’s legal.
But, he clearly doesn’t believe any president should have this authority and blames Congress for ceding too much power to the executive over the years…
My initial assessment is that what Pres. Trump announced is legal. Whether or not it should be legal is a different matter. Congress has been ceding far too much power to the exec. branch for decades. We should use this moment as an opportunity to start taking that power back.

I’ve heard this sentiment before, that even people who disagree with the president having this authority admits that he’s using it legally.
