Senator Dick Durbin refused to allow Biden’s SCOTUS nominee to answer a question from Ted Cruz at the end of his time.
It was a question of why she sentenced a child pornography offender to nearly 4 years less than what the federal guidelines called for even though she, herself, admitted that it was egregious.
Ted Cruz kept pushing back, asking Durbin why he didn’t want her to answer the question. Durbin kept throwing the rules in his face and he continued to challenge Durbin on whether he would let her answer the question.
Durbin did not, giving the go ahead to Senator Coons to begin his questioning even as Cruz continued to object:
Senator @tedcruz asks Ketanji Brown Jackson why she sentenced a child porn offender to 40 months BELOW federal guidelines and the prosecutors’ suggestion.

It couldn’t be more clear that Durbin was shielding Jackson from the question. I’m sure she could have answered it in a matter of seconds, but Durbin wouldn’t allow it because he clearly doesn’t like the line of questioning.
In another clip from Cruz today, he followed up on the ‘define a woman’ question by Blackburn with his own attempt to get her to answer:
Sen. Ted Cruz to Ketanji Brown Jackson: "Yesterday under questioning from Senator Blackburn, you told her that you couldn't define what a woman is… I think you are the only Supreme Court nominee in history who has been unable to answer the question, 'What is a woman?'" pic.twitter.com/bpjal3t2dF

She refused to answer the question of what is a woman or how she would make that legal determination, no matter how Cruz asked it. She’s doing a lot of that this week.
