Stephen Colbert went on an extended satiric critique of Trump for about 12 minutes on his show, much of it was pretty funny. BUT today he’s being criticized for what some people say is a homophobic attack.
Watch below at about the 11:50 minute mark where he defends the journalism of John Dickerson and launches his insult:
@StephenAtHome even if one likes or doesn't like the president, you sir, deserve your walking papers from CBS.

Imagine what @StephenAtHome Colbert wd be saying if a comedian did something similar abt Obamas, used a slur in name of comedy.

Even some erstwhile critics of Trump were offended:
Go to hell @StephenAtHome, you are on sick motherfucker. This is the sickest shit I've seen a 'tard call a POTUS! https://t.co/l2FyNdMOqo

Of course, there are still some liberal holdouts, like Larry O’Donnell of MSNBC:
Few people on TV have risen to the challenge Trump presents. History's going to be kind to @StephenAtHome & to @CBS for letting him do it. https://t.co/tBnqRObJcI

I don’t think they were actually “homophobic” per se. But that’s pretty over the top. You all know I don’t think much of Trump, but this is kinda shocking and extreme. I know it’s cliche, but what if someone had done that to Obama? We all know what would have happened…
