Clarence Thomas may still be in the hospital even though he was expected to be out as of yesterday, missing a third day of oral arguments:
DC EXAMINER – Associate Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas remained hospitalized on Wednesday, missing a third day of oral arguments.
Thomas, 73, was admitted to Washington, D.C.’s, Sibley Memorial Hospital on Friday after having “flu-like symptoms,” Supreme Court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said.
He was diagnosed with an infection, and he has not been seen on the bench since, according to a report.
When asked for an update on Thomas, McCabe responded with, “No update.”
“He underwent tests, was diagnosed with an infection and is being treated with intravenous antibiotics,” McCabe said in a Sunday statement.
Thomas will read briefs and oral arguments for the days missed on the bench, Chief Justice John Roberts said Wednesday.
I know the Examiner says he’s definitely in the hospital, but I wonder how they know that if the Supreme Court isn’t providing any updates. That may very well be the case, assuming the court would let us know when he is released. But it’s entirely possible that he was released and is recuperating at home for a day or so before he returns to the court.
Either way, we at TRS do hope he is getting better and will be back in his seat at the high court very soon.
Pray for Clarence Thomas!
