As you may have heard this morning, Schumer invited Lev Parnas to the Senate Q&A today as his personal guest. But Ted Cruz points out that it’s not going too well for Schumer:
Scenes from the impeachment trial: Schumer invited Lev Parnas to be his personal guest today at the trial. Minutes ago, Parnas was ejected from the gallery…because he’s wearing an ankle bracelet mandated bc he’s a criminal defendant accused of serious felonies! #CantMakeItUp

“Schumer invited Lev Parnas to be his personal guest today at the trial. Minutes ago, Parnas was ejected from the gallery…because he’s wearing an ankle bracelet mandated bc he’s a criminal defendant accused of serious felonies!”
That is truly hilarious. Schumer’s attempt to turn this into a circus was foiled by the mere fact that Parnas is a criminal under federal investigation!
I heard discussion on the news from reporters wondering if Parnas would be allowed because of his ankle bracelet, noting that no electronic devices (iphones, etc) are allowed in the Senate during the impeachment trial. I guess now we know.
UPDATE: Cruz corrects his tweet only slightly based on new information…
Turns out, what I was told in the Cloakroom was slightly inaccurate. Instead of his being “ejected” from the gallery, Parnas was told he wouldn’t be allowed into the gallery w/ his ankle bracelet, and so he didn’t actually try to go in.
