Like most of us, Ted Cruz was not happy about the reporting that hit yesterday about Nike canceling their 4th of July shoe that showcased a Betsy Ross American flag on it, suggesting it was offensive. He responded this way:
It’s a good thing @Nike only wants to sell sneakers to people who hate the American flag…. @NFL #HappyFourth https://t.co/G6w8vDjvLP

Somebody hit back at Cruz noting that he must hate American flag because he was wearing Nike in his b-ball game with Jimmy Kimmel:
Ted Cruz hates the American flag you hate to see it. pic.twitter.com/hvEFXQHu5u

Cruz then revealed that he’s always been a fan of Nike shoes, but not anymore:
Yep, I own lots of @Nike I’ve been a life-long customer, since I was kid. But they’ve now decided their shoes represent snide disdain for the American flag. Since they don’t want my business anymore, I won’t buy any more. Can anyone recommend a good sneaker co that’s not so woke? https://t.co/XQfO9Dh737

Personally I love my Asics the best. I have no idea where they stand on political issues like this and, to be honest, I don’t want to know. They are too comfortable.
And since Cruz has so many Nike shoes, might I suggest a 4th of July bonfire…
UPDATE: Cruz just tweeted this, clarifying his position so that there is no mistake on where he stands:
I love America. I stand for the anthem, respect the flag & honor the men & women who fought to defend our Nation. I respect Free Speech & I’m exerting mine: until @Nike ends its contempt for those values, I WILL NO LONGER PURCHASE NIKE PRODUCTS. #WalkAwayFromNike RT if you agree. https://t.co/IvXNTgvlHq
