Ted Cruz rips CNN’s Brian Stelter for acting like “chief of rapid response, DNC”

Ted Cruz ripped into CNN’s Brian Stelter today for trying to dunk on him after he deleted a tweet referencing an erroneous local news story:

Stelter tweeted the following this morning:

The screenshot of Cruz’s tweet includes a section below where the Michigan governor said “Hello Senator! This photo is from January of 2019, and is being misused to spread fear and anger. I know you would never intentionally mislead the public during a pandemic, so I’m hopeful you’ll correct this mistake as soon as possible. Stay safe, & happy Easter from Michigan.”

A little while ago Ted Cruz hit back at Stelter and accused him of acing like the DNC’s “chief of rapid response”, writing “I RT’ed a former LA Times reporter who had tweeted pics that mistakenly ran on the ABC local news broadcast. When I found out the story was erroneous, I deleted the tweet. Gosh, Brian, why does your tweet omit the MSM error that started it? Or does CNN only exist to attack GOP?”

He continued “Here’s the correction from the local ABC affiliate…”, which points to a local ABC affiliate tweeting “A photo of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signing a bill surrounded by people is part of old video we mistakenly used on a recent COVID-19 story.”

In other words, Cruz didn’t get it wrong, a local ABC affiliate did. And Cruz deleted the tweet when he found out that his joke was based on an erroneous tweet. Which is why he ripped into Stelter for going after him and not the local ABC affiliate, saying “Your job title is literally “chief media correspondent” for CNN. And yet you ignore the MSM culpability. I simply believed their reporting was accurate. It’s almost as if your real job title is “chief of rapid response, DNC.””
