The Vatican unveiled their 2020 Nativity scene in front of St. Peter’s Basilica and is like nothing I’ve ever seen before:
This year’a Vatican Presepio (Christmas Crib/Nativity Scene), made from ceramic statues created between 1965 and 1975 by the Art Institute F.A. Grue of the Italian town of Castelli, was officially unveiled today in St. Peter’s Square. pic.twitter.com/kAJPZSuurt

There are more images in this video released by Vatican News:
I have no idea what the Vatican was thinking with this. As I said in the title, it’s hideous. It looks like a bunch of giant Fischer Price toys:
Why is there a “Fischer-Price Orc” in the Vatican's Nativity Scene? https://t.co/qesOmXzuDR via @YouTube pic.twitter.com/NmV5DlS8oK

Last year’s Nativity was far more traditional and less controversial:
Sometimes it seems that the Vatican is on a completely different planet. The whole Pachamama incident was the worst. And then we find out this year that the Cardinal imprisoned for sexual abuse in Australia was actually framed by someone at the Vatican, because this Cardinal was about to audit the Vatican bank. Not to mention the huge compromises Pope Francis made with Chinese Commies with regard to the choosing of bishops.
And the list goes on… And now we wake up today to this ridiculous looking Nativity.
I love being Catholic and wouldn’t go back to being Protestant if my life depended on it (no offense intended). But there are some really big problems at the Vatican, problems that they will have to no doubt answer for when their name is called…
