So Democrat Robert “McBribeySon” Menendez is on trial for allegedly selling political influence to his buddy in Florida for lavish gifts. And it’s getting weird already.
His friend’s pilot testified that he flew Menendez so much that the stocked his favorite drinks in the plane:
Menendez was such a common sight that the pilot made sure to request the Garden State senator’s favorite beverages in a 2009 email titled “aircraft stock,” which requested that the plane be stocked with Evian water and several different kinds of juices.
“Myself and the other pilot … figured these are items that should be on board if the Senator was on the aircraft,” Nylund, who now flies for JetBlue, told the jury.
“It was common practice … for a special passenger have the special provisions that they want,” he said.
There’s evidence from his former staffer that he fixed visa applications for his friend:
A former staffer for U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez testified Monday that the Democrat helped with the visa applications of friends of a wealthy doctor who faces bribery charges with him, while defense attorneys sought to show Menendez’s actions were unremarkable and part of the duties of his office.
Under direct questioning from the government, former senior policy adviser Mark Lopes testified Menendez emailed him in 2008 authorizing a letter of support from Menendez to be sent to consular officials regarding the visa applications of two sisters from the Dominican Republic.
IN fact one of the women testified that she got the Senator’s help after her rich boyfriend paid him:
A Dominican woman testified on Tuesday that Sen. Bob Menendez, who faces felony corruption charges, helped her with her U.S. visa application after her alleged ex-boyfriend, who is also on trial, asked the Democratic senator to intervene.
Rosiell Polanco-Suera told the court her visa application was initially denied in 2008, but after her wealthy ex-boyfriend — Dr. Salomon Melgen, who was convicted of Medicaid fraud earlier this year — asked “the senator” to intervene, her application was green-lighted, the Associated Press reports.
And the GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has a petition to toss out Menendez if he’s found guilty.
Here's the petition I talked about this morning: https://t.co/PQsXQcr1ll. We must demand Menendez resign if convicted. pic.twitter.com/sTapWvoK9m

And Menendez’ defense is that he is friends with the guy so it wasn’t bribery. Yeah. Sorry buddy, but if a guy is bribing you, he generally considers you his friend, so that’s not much of a defense…
