“The cartoon version of Matt Gaetz is not true” – Mark Halperin

Mark Halperin said today that he’s gotten to know Matt Gaetz a little and he wants to disabuse people of the cartoon version of Gaetz, which he says is nothing like him.

Here’s the video:

“Those of you who think he’s evil, that because he’s faced investigations and accusations he’s corrupt, who think that he’s not a serious person at all, I disabuse you of those things. I’ve spent enough time with him to know that the cartoon of who he is, is not true. Now, those of you who defend him and say this is a great pick, I think the jury’s out on that … But I can tell you again, I watched the cartoon version of Matt Gaetz, and I know the version that I’ve spent some time with. They’re not the same. So have an open mind.”

An interesting take by an interesting newser. I think the problem is that the cartoon version of Gaetz is what most people in the Senate think is true and it’s going to be tough to break through that wall of misinformation. But we’ll see if he can do it.
